Justice Scalia Has Died - Page 3

The partisan aspect of the nomination process is out of the bag and shan't return. Nominating an unknown or a moderate is insane or either party in the whitehouse. Obama knew this, and his choices so far have reflected it. GW Bush found out the hard way when he attempted to nominate his lightweight girl pal from TX and the Senate revolted.

Here is Scalia in his own words.

On NPR they said approvingly and without comment that Obama will nominate the most qualified candidate who also happens to be a "historic first" or some other such nonsense.

Can you imagine if Obama was going to nominate the best qualified white male?

Harry Reid wrote an op-ed in WaPo lecturing the GOP about obstructionism.

And no. I didn't make that up.

In other words, the constitution is only useful when you can use it to appoint a justice who will undermine it.

If he were to nominate a well qualified Native American (First Nations for my Canadian friends) the GOP would be put in a serious bind

I think Obama would be smart to nominate Sri. Main reason is the GOP has several high ranking folks that are kids of Indian immigrants and can't have the Repubs beating you in a category like that.
