Yeah I'm just kidding.  For all my lack of Langes and offshore trusts, I have a lot of things for which I'm very grateful.  And I'm actually pretty excited about that PMW!

Yes. I wasn't even considering anything from modern Bulova until I saw them.

^ That would be a Frilly-style kop there, for the big timers here.

Also, I'm scared Belligero would mock me.

Having said that, my incoming PMW is truly offensive and I don't care!

I'm looking to buy a watch for my wedding(next June) and am nearing the end of a several month rotation to my company's London office and starting to think about whether I could get a better price by buying over here. Based on the weak pound and VAT refund(what % is this again?), I think I might be able to get a BLNR(assuming I can find one) for a significant discount compared to US prices. Using some back-of-napkin math, I'd save something like $2,000 compared to DavidSW's price.

Anyone have any tips or tricks? Things I should look out for?

Thanks, all.

Personally I wouldn't get that as a wedding watch.  It's a sports watch in the purest sense, not under the cuff of a shirt, let alone inside a suit.

With that said, I would suggest visiting the dealers in London and get a quote.  I think the VAT % is between 18 to 19 %.  I do not know of any reputable online sellers there.  Best of luck!

'dinks article about Richemont finances is interesting in a couple of points: buybacks from dealers (unsold watches) and prediction that next year is even deeper in the shitter. Lange, Cartier and JLC fire sales, anyone?

Yes, its not a dress watch, but today people often wear sports watches with suits and everything else they own.   Not to mention, you are presuming that everyone gets married in a suit rather than something more casual on a beach, or that he has much use for a true dress watch.   Even if he is wearing a suit for a wedding, if he doesn't really have much use for a true dress watch in everyday life, then maybe a sports watch is the right choice for him.

VAT is 20%. Not sure if you get it all back.
