Wallets - Page 2

That's true, i plan to replace my taiga wallet every couple years, but I like it nonetheless. The model I am using is the card case, which has two slots for credit cards and one for folded currency.

I hate LV because I hate the image and idea that is associated with it, the prissy woman-man who is obsessed with premium items and is a general girly dude. I prefer something a bit more rugged, edgy and young. I'm not saying everyone who likes LV is like that, I mean they're obviously good quality items, but it's a style that I will forever steer clear of.

I suggest going the cheapo route since you're a student, and then waiting for the semi-annual sales if you want to pick up a wallet that's a little more distinguished.  I had the opportunity to buy a very nice Testoni wallet (unknown exotic skin but was made more for durability than suppleness) last summer for $99.  In retrospect, I think I should have just made the splurge and let it endure everyday abuse. FWIW, Im using a calfskin trifold from Brooks Brothers that Im looking to replace in a similar price range.  I might end up going back to Testoni at the end of next season, or buying a brown bifold from either Mulholland Bro. or Ghurka.  Both companies are known for their traditional, no nonsense products.  I dont know if they would fit your personality though...

I was hoping that this forum would steer clear of genderphobic remarks but I see that this may not be the case. Sad.

Try J.Fold I bought one of these about a year ago and it has served me very well. They're a bit more edgy than the general black/brown leather but still not too "out there" for every day use. Also very reasonably priced at ~$40. J.Fold Website
Seconded. I've been using a J. Fold "Roadster" in dark red with ivory stripes for about a year and a half. It has held up surprisingly well, and it even gets the occasional compliment. I also think that, being a slimmer and sportier design, I'm inclined to carry less in my wallet than I might otherwise. Silly, I know, but part of the search for quality is about finding a product that will have a positive impact on our habits.

Just as I was hoping that new posters would come in with half a sense of humor and the uncanny ability to detect sarcasm when present.
