I fear I might also have narrow heels.  The Brannock insists that I do not have wide feet, yet the front part and back part of my feet seem to be perpetually at odds.

Visited the mother ship Shoe Bank yesterday for the first time. What a place. I was there for a solid three hours and probably could have stayed another three. Exercised some restraint and only walked out with one pair of shoes: Black McGregors. I didn't even want black shoes but I love the McGregor and the fit was good.  I was originally gunning for another color, but it turns out the 8D fit me the best without any movement in the shoe and no extra volume up front yet somehow room for all of my toes. I'm testing them out some more at home.

I must say, I'm almost more baffled about the sizing now than before my visit. I was constantly surprised about which shoe size would fit me. Even with the same model (McGregor) 9D fit better than some 8.5Ds that I trield and yet another 9D was giant on me (a shame, too, because it was a beautiful bourbon). Had to pass on one really nice pair of bourbon McAllisters because they were a bit big.

And the other pair of shoes I was closest to buying was a pair of Club Monaco white suede leeds that fit very nicely and just looked smashing. Couldn't quite pull the trigger, though.

I am considering buying the sand color someday.  I think it's nice to try to find more unusual shoes.  But you also have to ask yourself if you would really use them. I like that white color, but I doubt I would wear them much.  Sand is a bit more my color.

Very good point; I meant that CXL handles it by looking better with wear, whereas suede generally does not. I wouldn't wear boat shoes anywhere rugged, but certainly on laws and beaches and other places where they would receive more wear and tear than they would on, say, a stroll through my neighborhood.

For most of the things I'd use a boat shoe for (i have the Maritme in navy and red) I wouldn't want them to be suede. Eg, I don't worry much about grass stains, dirt, or water with CXL. Wipe ''em down and move on.

I'm considering grabbing a pair of these from the ShoeBank. A second pair of Strands doesn't seem to be strictly necessary, but II'm sure I'll get $157 worth of wear out of them.

And that's the reason they are sitting on the shelf still. I sobered up for just long enough. I didn't see a pair of the sand color in the same store or I might be bragging about how I just got a pair.
