Nah, not picking them up .... yet... devil.gif

I"ll wait to see what the sale coming up will look like. Just curious as to why there was a different name.

It's not exactly the same. The Charles Street is a variation of the Cornwallis that AE makes for Harry Rosen stores in Canada. It has a poron insole, tap sole, and combination heel. Here's the link to the HR website that shows more details and photos:

Yes, basically the same as Cornwallis, just with different options. Only differences are combination sole, combo heel similar to Indy shoes, and a slightly different insole (maybe poron but not sure).

Is there a way to safely and easily remove this or will it wear off in time?

Which is all the more reason why they should be going back to the old piping, which looked perfectly fine despite whatever production volume issues may be at hand.

And, as others have pointed out, the disconnect between what Paul has said about trying to play to the "casual" fans and the actual usage patterns of the new piping (heavily used on more formal shoes, notably absent from casual styles) is curious.

The above is how I feel.  If the AE shoes were finished like the shoes in @peppercorn78's post, I'd have no complaints.  If they can't (and to be clear, it is understandable why they can't), then they (AE) shouldn't half-ass it.  Particularly on what is by all accounts a "premium" line, sold at a premium price point.

Moreover, in Paul's own words they're spending more to do it the new way.  They're not getting a good return on that.

As to the price gap, at current exchange rates, the 440€ Vass are just over $3 LESS than the retail price on the Independence line (not including shipping).

Hope you'll forgive me Peppercorn, but as long as your Natty Dundee's are cool with it, so am I.  :D

Unfortunately, the best part of the shoes are the trees and they do not come with the sale.

Wow, those are beat to hell.

I also notice ebay sellers occasionally listing the wrong size and providing photos that show it is not the same width as advertised.

Saw the Conjuring 2 tonight -- pretty decent scary movie.

Anyone wanting the dark chili Rogue should get them now. They are closing them out.
That's an odd coincidence, given the recent discussions on this shoe.

It's all good, my man! I like the fat lip piping on casual, traditional stompers like chukkas, LWBs, and PTBs.

Btw, I must mention that unless you personally visit Budapest and start an account with Vass there, US customers can't order direct and get that pricing. The official North American distributors mark the prices up quite a bit.

I'm hoping there is a deal on Daltons at some point this year. Is RDA the best time to snag them??

Oh wow, I wonder if these decisions are influenced by our discussions.

I'm pretty sure that the recent discussions on the chili Rogue were positive. And several of us expressed interest in the idea of a navy Rogue.

I agree with you. I meant to say that maybe the rogue hasn't been selling as well as they would like, which is why they closed out the black and walnut already.

Maybe they were planning to close out chili at some point soon too and based on the recent discussion they figured now would be a good time, that people might jump on it at that price point. But maybe not, I'm just speculating. If they do a limited time navy Rogue then I think it's safe to say they are influenced!

Well damn - that's the only color I'd consider, but I can't do them right now... frown.gif

As cool as I think a blue/navy (in the zone of the Strandmok blue) would be, I've got to believe that the buyers for that would be a fraction of chili.

How do we feel about the tan suede Maritimes? Would suede be suitable for the sort of rough wear that chromexcel shoes are supposed to be able to handle?

SAD!  That is one of my favorites.  Love the larger holes.
