Trunk sale.  No upcharge.

Didn't they look them over for you?  Maybe that was subtle enough to miss...

The SA did look it over for me I guess they missed that.  The shoes look really good but do you notice that issue?  It seems like when I put them on my foot there are flaps on both sides.

Because lasts are obviously different, I focus primarily on where the ball of my foot is in relation to the widest part of the sole- if they're aligned, then I'm good. If the V-gap is too wide (1"+), I likely need to size up in width, and if The V is completely closed on a new shoe, i need to size down in width.

I know that sounds basic, but since lasts have different volume and toe length, those are the things I check. Thankfully, I'm a 10.5 D in every last I've tried (except for whatever the Patriot is on- that last sucks hardcore for me. Thankfully, the Cavanaugh is a flawless fit).

Are Strands in Dark Chili sold anywhere? I have a pair of McAllisters in that color and I love them.

That makes good sense.  I am usually an 11.5D or 12D that's about it.  I never thought about the ball of the foot I am always measuring the gap between the end of my toes and the end of the shoe or the heal gap.

I'm assuming these are seconds? I had the same issue with my walnut strands but not as bad as it looks in your picture. I bought some saphir polish and forgot about it. I darken them over time and don't see the patchy areas anymore.

I wouldn't spend $50 when polish costs $8 DIY

Measure them.  :teach:

Yep.  3 3/4 vs 3 1/2.  My thought would be as you wear them that might get to be a bigger gap if they stretch.  What do you think?

Depends on the price.  I paid $250 for mine from Nordstrom.  If you are at like $50 why pay $50 when you can have a 1st quality pair backed by Nordstroms awesome return policy.   I've had two pair of AE that I wore and could not wear comfortably and Nordstroms replaced them.

No thank you! Question:

Would you accept a MTO pair of any shoe of your choice if you couldn eat Oreo embedded chocolate chip cookies for the rest of your life? Go!

Believe they are sold at Nordstrom or you can order via phone directly from AE (that's what I did). They are lovely.

Occasional opportunity offered by AE + Horween together, with specialty colors of shell.

The last one was in 2014 with natural, bottle green and a beautiful dark blue.  They offered to make maybe 5 specific models with no upcharge, but, they would make any model of shoe (with upcharge) in those wonderful colors.  Skip Horween traveled with Paul Grangaard to stores across the US and visited with shoppers a bit.

I got bottle green Leeds, Natty Leeds and Natty First Ave boots.  Shortly thereafter, I got married.

Have not had to explain to wife yet what a trunk show is. I had been considering the strategy of pointing out her purchases but prefer to stay happily married, so when it is time, I will do something nice, then explain what a trunk show is.

Main takeaway is to dig deep, they are rare opportunities to acquire 1 of a kind items for your closet.

This thread will explode for awhile so you won't be able to miss it if you check in here even weekly.
