What are they?

Several SF members have mentioned the Academy on the 2321 last and correctly noted that there is no description of the 2321 on the AE site. I wrote AE and received the following very brief description:

"The 2321 Last is wider in the forepart and is a fuller shape footform but retains the sleek side profile."

It sounds like it will work well with my foot and I am giving it some serious thought.

I was looking at these today wondering what size. I noticed they are on the same last as the Maritime and Northnd Camp moc, both which I went with a size 8D (Same as my Strands). The Maritime fit much more comfortable compared to the camp moc. I think the thick chromepack leather of the camp moc made them fit way more tight.

This all lead me to confusion when it came to size the Sea Island. I feel like 8D sockless would be good but hearing a lot of guys sizing up for sure.

Those are upper leathers before they are stretched onto a last.

Sounds like the Academy will fit similar to the 108.  I've never had any major problems with the non-balmoral shoes.

Your post is about the Academy but your pic is of the Alumnus.

Cordovan Catastrophe!

So I ordered a pair of Cordovan Cambridges from the CAC. Not impressed. 😞 What do y'all think??? I understand these are seconds but I honestly expected more for $527! The texture is rough and the colors don't match, I cannot see one good thing about these. Truly disappointing to say the least. Darn! I'm striking out with seconds. Guess I am just not meant to get seconds!

The only thing that bothers me about those is the color mismatch between the shoes (not within each shoe). See if some AE cordovan cream evens it out.

Well, that is true. Both are on the same 2321 last. My confusion is simple: Once you leave the Academy you become an Alumnus. This means we can also expect an ugly shoe that no one wants called the "Drop out" or an over-eager shoe called the "Matriculant." You can expect it to gain 15 pounds after a year and smoke pot.

Did you see the stitching? It's awful.

It's part of the shoe fiber from stitching I think. The pinking is missing.

Yes, I saw the stitching, and it's fine. The fuzzy stuff you can brush/pluck off easily, and the whiter part you can recolor. From your pics it doesn't look like it'd be any more work than you'd normally do during shoe care time. A dimple here, crease there, you won't notice it once you've worn it.
