I am 100% jealous of your bourbon McAllisters. I plan on doing my best to make mine look like that.

Thanks! The downside is that I'm terrified to polish them, for fear of screwing up the burnishing lol

Yea those are top notch. They almost have a wiskey/cigar shell look to them in the sheen.

Holy split toes!  Googly moogly that's a lot.

My size 15d precludes off the rack racks, so I measured my bedroom closet and the height/width of my shoes+boots+chukkas and built a 30 pair rack.

Wife was away for a few days, so had some time around the house...

went to Home Depot with measurements and they cut pieces of lumber down to my specifications.

Sides are 2x12 and I use 2x12 for 2 of the shelves, the rest are 1x12.  Took very little time, screwed it together and painted it.

sigh.  Thought that'd be enough.

Then to handle overflow, built another rack above the shelves in another room's closet.

adding 2 shelves above the usual shelf gave me room for extra 16

3 shelves fit 8 size 15s across, so this holds 24 pairs...

pardon the Danner boots at top, they get AE shoe trees and when called for, I love them.

And recently, I got tired of clutter and "built" (no screws used, these are just boards laying on boards) a 32 pair rack at bottom of a closet:

there are 3 of those spacers you see on the left, have not screwed together or painted yet.

pardon the shearling slippers here.

My wife liked this room's closet enough that she now has the same shelving above and below in her main closet.

30, 24, 32 with no closet space loss.  Has helped reduce clutter.

Those of you with Suede Strands (not the strandmok) and suede McGregors did you size the same way or did you find more give in the suede? Unfortunately I cannot size them because its all ebay purchases at this point for them.

Desert TFX and Desert Acadias? Great boots. Both of mine get shoe trees too, along with my cowboy boots =P.

Since we're posting closets/shoe racks, I guess I'll post mine.  I posted this in the Alden thread the other day and got some flack about the bags.   smile.gif I'm a routine-driven guy and like the protection from stupid scrapes/bumps I get when pulling the shoes for the day and putting them up (because I'm also clumsy), and I like that there is less dust to deal with (though I brush the shoes pretty thoroughly before I put them up and briefly before I wear them).  I travel a lot, so I'm also never hunting for bags, etc. - I just toss 'em in the suitcase and go.

I'm also pretty militant about trees... wink.gif

I tree all my shoes but I cannot say I bag them all, kudos to you! I need to get in the habit of brushing mine after every wear rather than every so often.

Rogues for a Friday with Argyle socks. Not sure AE picked the best name for these shoes. One of the definitions for Rogue is, "an inferior or defective specimen among many satisfactory ones, especially a seedling or plant deviating from the standard variety." Irrespective, they fit nicely and are a good selection every few weeks. I am considering hitting the toe caps and heels with black polish. Anyone have experience with this?

Not a complete answer, but I found the suede MacNeils I have to be looser than the calf MacNeils. For me it was a positive change.

Wilbert Friday.

Glad I didn't wait for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale to buy a Lasalle, because it is not on sale this year.

Now that the convention is over, one is free to wear new socks with their Rogue shoes.
