How do you find the fit of the Boones? Say compared to the ubiquitous 65 last? When I saw them in the shop, they looked to have a lot of room around and above the toes. I'm being tempted by the $139 special on eBay.

I was hoping the navy or brown distressed Neumok would be on sale during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but unfortunately they decided to exclude it this year. Then I found out that this McTavish is available at the shoe bank in my size. Anybody have any pics of this McTavish? How does it compare to the Neumok? Also how dressed down would you guys wear it? Thanks!

Yea. That one's the acorn hilfire Nordstrom exclusive one. It's been on sale for a while now. I'm talking about the navy and brown.

Friday night discovery. If you get drilled in the shin area as a pitcher in softball on Monday by a $400 bat (yes price matters, those double walled bats absolutely destroy the ball), by Friday your foot will look gross.

Eek, I saw that and my first throught was, "What last did this to you?!"

I remember I umpired one summer for fun, and never again.  Parents ruin all the fun in their kids sports.

Not the best lighting, but you can view mine here post #69977.  They are the Cognac (listed on ShoeBank as Dark Brown) model number is 4045.

I had a chance to get the Khaki (4047), but as much as I like the McT (I have 3), they were a little too "peanut butter" for me.

Compared to the Neumok, they're similar, but the McT just has more presence due to its double leather sole.  I also really like the Dublin leather on the 4045.

I would wear with just about anything because I don't care, but jeans is a no brainer.

Have you tried some Leather Lotion to even out the color?  :hide:

I would suggest alternating between navy and walnut cream polishes. After a few applications, it will hardly be noticeable.

Thanks for the pics. This would be my first time buying seconds if I decide to purchase them. Another question, do you know if I would be able to return them to an AE retail store if for some reason I'm not happy with the pair I get?

Yes, but you'll have to pay the $10 restocking fee.  Returns to an outlet location are free.  I'm sure this is because the retail will have to return to the ShoeBank but the outlet location will just enter them into their inventory.

Edit: BTW mine were seconds.

That's the Cognac color (4045), but what you'll see from Shoebank is anywhere from a reddish brown color not much like the AE stock photograph to an antiqued-looking tan leather.

I own both (plus a "real" tan) and I love them - I wouldn't trade the for any Neumok. Grab what they have as long as whatever flaws that make them seconds aren't bad. In the case of my "Mistake Cognacs" (the pair in the middle in the pic linked below), I'm fairly sure the only flaw is the color, and they are easily my favorite pair of the three. I said recently in this thread that I probably wouldn't even wait for a sale to swipe my card if they came out with a Strandmok in this "mistake" leather

I post this photo way too much, so I'll link to the comparison of the three I own: http://www.styleforum.net/t/518090/allen-edmonds-appreciation-thread-2016-news-pictures-sizing-accessories-clothing-etc/500_100#post_8330073
