Well, that's the reason they give a discount.  When you buy seconds, you are rolling the dice.  However, most of the time, I think the defects are small.  I've bought several seconds and most of them had some creasing or color variation, which I don't mind.  Sometimes people buy seconds and they receive a shoe with a tear in the leather or messy stitching, or some cases, a shoe with the wrong sole.  I've been lucky in that all my seconds have been great.

No need to fear 6pm. It's simply the outlet for Zappos.com. Totally legit!

Yes, I have bought many shoes on 6pm.com. That and Zappos are owned by Amazon.com

Man, I wish that had been my experience with Shoebank- I've always had significant issues. Torn leather, separated sole, mismarked size (this is the most common issue, and it's usually been at minimum a size small- I just returned a pair of Concord Aves for this exact reason), you name it. I primarily try to buy firsts from eBay or during AE sales now, but every once in a while something pops up that I canthelp but roll the dice with.

Ultimately its up to you.  But I don't think its that bad.  At least its in a not to visible when wearing area.  How is the fit?

I have to admit that I'm not a big shortwing fan (a little busy for my taste), but those look great!

Fit is ok.  I have had a real difficult time with the lofter on this last.  Both this one and the Lake Forest have been an issue.  I normally wear a 11.5D or 12D in almost every shoe.  I've tried an 11.5D, 12D, 11E, 11.5E, and 12B.  I am just at a loss on why I can't find a good fit in the loafer!   My local Allen Edmonds said the last may not just work for my foot. :(  That stinks if so because I love the shoe.

Man!  Those are awesome looking.  They look like fine carved wood!   That is a 5 last correct?  Does it fit the same as the Park Avenue and the Strand?

If you've tried that many sizes with no luck, I'd say your local sales associate is probably right.

Yes, 5 last and should fit similar to the PA and Strand.

Oh I get it.  I've read several disaster stories on this site.  Some people received shoes with the wrong soles.  I find that unnacceptable.  A sole is often a very important part of why people buy certain shoes.  You mention one really intersting point in that you've had mismarked sizes.  I wonder how did you determine that?  Did you measure the shoes?  I have several pair of Carlyles, and even though they fit different at the vamp, they all are the same length and feel the same in the toe box.

I guess I've had one small negative experience with the merlot belt I received.  Don't buy the basic wide dress belt in merlot.
