Praise be to Grangaard! Finally a no-frills, sleek-looking captoe from AE on the 1943 last!

Yeah, the more I see this, the more I want a pair. My only concern would be creasing on the cap, with how long the cap is.

Warwick. If you can find the BB from the seconds sale at $150 it is a steal. Not a fan of the fransican and I'm still trying to make my mind up on the mora 2.0. The st. john looks interesting but i'd like to see it in person.

That's a sharp looking shoe, @phsiao08. Funny, I saw a random Harrison on the shoebank and thought about it for a decent minute. Similar looking to this Exchange Place. I wonder if it has the same wheeling?

Unfortunately, the 43 runs super short on me. I'd have to size up to 9.5D (65 + 1/2) or even try 10B (65 + 1 & D->B). I'm sure either of those would crease outside the cap.

Edit: When I say outside the cap, I meant on the cap (i.e.

I do like my bourbon Mora's a lot, but with chili Warwicks now incoming, we'll see which one gets more wear.

I've always wondered how the 65 to the 511 last affected people. I wear 9E on the 65 and 9D on the 511. Its possible 8.5 2E works for me on the 65 last but none were in store and I was happy in the 9E that I never bothered checking. Unfortunately it leaves me wondering how the Indy line would best fit me. So that will be a future trip to the store (calling ahead of course).

Similarly, 8E in the 65, 8D in the 511 give me the overall best results.  But in my case its so close I can sometimes play around with the sizing on both (leather and style depending).  Example my SHELL PA's fit perfect in 8D, can't get 8D to work in calf.  I prefer an 8E in the Dalton, but can wear an 8D or 7.5E if I don't wear boot socks (7.5 is a touch short but fits marginally better in the upper ankle, so give and take).  The Dundee is 8D all the way because not enough eyelets to make the top close up properly in E width.

I did manage to try an 8EE in the 65.  In my case, I got a marginal improvement in the instep, but the volume in the toe box was copious to say the least, so I'd rather go with the 8E.

Agreed, I'm not too worried though since the it's hardly noticeable in black and even the darker brown color. Bring back shell MTOs!

Thoughts on Hopkinson vs the new Exchange Square?

Hopkinson is the first image.

Ignoring the fact that the Hopkinson is part of the Indy line and comes with all of those perks, I think it just looks better. Less squared and it has 6 eyelets vs the 5. Personally I'd only go with the Exchange if it was heavily discounted vs the Hopkinson or the Park Ave. Unless the 1943 last fits you much better than the 65 and the 201 last, then that would be a different story. If I was going to venture into that 1943 last i'd probably start with a cornwallis although those leiden weaves posted yesterday looked pretty nice in the sun.

Where do your Strands crease? While giving my new 9D Strands another test drive last night, I noticed they were creasing just where the cap starts. I don't have pictures available at the moment. Is this common and indicative of a good fit or uncommon and indicative of an improper fit? Or, possibly, neither?

I have a pair of 8.5D FAs I mentioned in previous posts that are causing pain for my right pinky toe and this is why the change to 9D. The creasing on the FAs is what my inexperienced eye would consider optimal. I believe I have also tried on the BB edition of the Strand in 8.5D and noticed similar creasing to mine in 9D.

If you feel like posting pictures of the creasing on your Strands, I'll happily review them. I a bit concerned that the creasing could leave the shoes looking shabby after a while and lead to decreased longevity.

My shell strands crease right there on the start of cap. They fit great so I think its just how it worked out on my foot and seemingly yours. Only size that could MAYBE fit me better is 8.5 2E because the 8.5 E was too tight on the toes and felt short while the 8.5EEE was swimming. I have not worn my midnight navy strands yet but based on trying them on I believe itll be a similar situation, maybe a little before the cap. I love the shoe style too much to give it up though so if longevity is not meant to be then thats the way it goes hah.

Anyone have any experience with the Larchmont Wingtips? I see that they're on sale for $157 in bourbon as part of the seconds sale and they caught my attention mostly because I don't own any shoes in that color. I'm usually an 8D in Allen Edmonds shoes and I have no experience with this last (333 last). Should I order my normal size? Thanks!
