Independence week continues ...

[tl;dr: eBay jackpot!]
The Rutledge in brown has been a bit of a white whale for me; since they were MTO, they weren't easily available when I discovered AE (Rutledge had already been d/c'd). Cut to a few weeks ago, where an inexperienced eBay seller with sub-par feedback was selling a pair in my size for a very low price. The description also didn't match the photos well, so I had no competition and the price was low enough it was worth the gamble. As I've stated, the Rutledge is my favorite AE style (and fit!), so I basically won my personal shoe lottery.

And I'm tapped out of #Indyweek - don't wear a black captoe enough to need the Hopkinson, but walnut Bartletts are definitely on my radar.

The main problem with Bourbon is the propensity to have tiger-striping.  There are numerous examples of awesome pairs as well as WTF on this forum and its previous iteration.  Here is a picture of my Bourbon Daltons.

I like them very nice!

For those inquiring minds, Brown Bartletts it was on a Wednesday. Talked into it by some FBWs. Ah hek, it is 'Indy Week' after all!

Stunning!   I LOVE mine.  Its a very rich looking color.  Maybe my favorite Allen Edmonds color!

If you want REAL ventilation, get your hands on a pair of Strawfuts.  Ironically there was an all black pair floating around the Paramus Nordstrom Rack a few weeks a go.

Those look awesome, and there just so happens to be a linen pair on e-bay in my size......

How did you size those vs. the 65 and the 201?

I have a Harrison, Park Avenue and a Hopkinson.

I think you know how the 201 and the 65 correlate, but the 333 (for me at least) felt more cramped in the toe box than the rest.  I'm probably more like a 12.5 B on the brannock, so I can wear a 12 B in the 65 and 201, but I had to buy a shoe stretcher to get the 333 to work.

I've never held the linen Strawfut, but on the ones I posted above (not mine BTW) and the all blacks I saw at the Rack, the non-leather part was a mesh fabric, and there is no inner lining.  I imagine they would feel amazing in places like Florida and Arizona, or right now here in NJ.  Mid 90's today, humid and sweating my butt off.

Did you go with 12 B in the 333?  What about the length, is it comparable to the 65 or does it just look longer because of the slim profile?  My issue is usually the instep.  Inspired by all the Indyweek stuff I decided to take a gamble.

AND YES! I KNOW WHAT I SAID ABOUT NO MORE SHOES FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.

Curses! Barnweasled!!!

I think back in April, I said the same thing.  I had 6 pair back then.  I have 12 now.   Insanity and embarrassment.  :embar:

My wife is not even going to see 3 of the shoes I ordered for at least 6 months.

The linen ones are fully lined, sadly.

I did, but I think I would need a 12.5 B or 12 C to make that last work without stretching.  All 12 Bs, the 201 fits perfectly, the 65 is just ever so slightly tight and the 333 was very tight until I beat them into submission with the stretcher.

If you've never tried the 333, it's almost like the "pocket" where the ball of your foot sits is set like 1/4 size back from the rest of the lasts.

Need help with the Lake Forest. I've tried 12D, 12B and 11.5D. None fit right. Too big or crush my toes. Suggestions? Same issue with LGA had to go with a 13b normally wear a 12D in 5 last. So confused!!

Interesting. I sized down 1/2 in the 333 from the 65 and 201. I find it long and wider where I need it (instep, perhaps?). I get much better closure in the 333 than most of my 65s which are a half size longer. Hoping to find out the 1943 fits like that in my normal size.
