Welcome to the land of filthy barn-weasels. Prepare to double you collection...

This is true, for better or worse.

Are the bourbon Mcallisters on AE's ebay firsts?

For $179.....

Looking to buy a used AE loafer. I like longer/higher vamps as compared to short ones. Can anyone comment on vamp length of Lake Forest or Ascher? I would be wearing these mainly for work. Thanks

Yes, BUT they aren't returnable to any AE store (due to PayPal).  Still fully warrented/etc., but it is unclear how they'll handle any finishing issues, etc.

Even my Wilbert's that I'm using today have piping.  I rarely wear these anymore it seems.

I'm with you on the new piping.  I'm returning a pair of Hopkinsons because of it.

Well I suppose someone at AE keeps an eye on this forum from @mreams99's 1776's (kudos to AE for that amazing gesture).  I'm not so big headed to believe that this forum alone moves the needle on their bottom line, but maybe the negative feedback on the piping issue will change their minds.

I was very seriously considering the Hopkinson, but not after the piping change.  I got the shell PA's, so they still got my money. :eh:

I've got a couple pairs of beater shoes and a pair of beater boots, so that is a category I'm pretty solid on. I dunno - I'll get some new laces and see how I feel next week...

If I didn't already own a pair of bourbon strands I'd definitely be buying a pair of the bourbon McAllisters. I am sorely tempted by the Sand Suede Boones though. Could use another casual shoe.

On a side note, I got that pair of Bitter Chocolate Suede McGregors for $100. No one bid against me on that one. I'll take some pics as soon as they arrive!

Reminder - independence week starts tomorrow. Show us your best Independence-line AEs!

Inspired by the weasel imagery of late, I figured I'd would supplement this with some sort of "independence weasel" photo, but google image let me down. "American flag weasel" didn't work either, though there were a couple of borderline nsfw items there. Unsurprising in retrospect, I suppose. Anyhoo - looking forward to awesome footwear!

I needed a pair of plain black oxfords for a wedding, so I ordered a pair of AE Carlyles through Nordstrom online since the local AE store only had the 10.5E in brown. They didn't look as nice as I expected when they arrived (some loose threads, a crease in the left shoe quarter panel), but I didn't have enough time to mess with an exchange before the event. After wearing them once, I noticed the left shoe is creasing significantly more than the right. This is my first pair of AE shoes, so I'm not sure if this is normal. Thoughts?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I don't own the Carlyle so I cannot speak to what is considered normal/abnormal creasing on that shoe, but Nordstroms has a no questions asked return policy.  If your not pleased return/exchange them.

Keep in mind that it is normal for shoes to crease, and one shoe may crease more than the other due to fit (i.e. difference in foot size left to right) or manner of walking.
