I would say, yes there is.  Although the color looks similar in my pictures, it's because of the sun.  The oxblood is much lighter and brighter in office lighting.

Today I wore my Alden 990s in #8 and took a picture on the way to work in the early sunlight. This is the original photo from an iphone, with no adjustments for light or color. When I got to the office I took the same photo with interior fluorescent lighting. Same shoes, pants, iphone and no adjustments of the picture for lighting or color. The outdoor with sunlight is certainly more burgundy and the color moves towards eggplant indoors. Just food for thought.

I see the lighting difference.  But more importantly...those look great.  I'm tempted to order a pair....

If you do, they are the Alden 990 on the Barrie last. Barrie is notorious for running 1/2 size large from your Brannock size, so keep that in mind. For me, I ordered my regular size because I am forever having tightness on the right foot and the extra size worked perfectly for me. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

Leather quality is excellent, at least on mine.  But I had ordered mine a couple of days BEFORE the sale was announced.  To the best of my knowledge Merlot wasn't listed as an option for the Strand on the AE website when I ordered mine.

Why do you ask?

My merlot Strands arrived today. He leather is very thin and unusually soft.

My merlot PA's feel the same as my Carlyle's.   Perhaps you got a bad pair?  Return them if you have doubts.

Can anybody speak to the difference between the Malvern and the Dundee?
Both are 3 eyelet split welt on the "1" (511) last. For a while seems like Dundee 1.0 was shell only and Malvern was calf only. About three years ago they dropped the Malvern, leaving them with no calf chukka.

When they brought out the Dundee 2.0, it was available in calf, shade, or shell.

Have never heard of fit was any different.

It's been about 6 months since their last cleaning so I decided to clean up my bourbon McAllister 2nds.

I have such a love-hate affair with bourbon.  I hate the fact I love it so much I buy all the things in it.  :D

My shell Leeds were supposed to arrive today.  But the tracking info says there was an exception because the barcode was unreadable and had to be replaced.  (How did they make it as far as they did if there were a problem with the barcode?)  This has happened more than once with Fedex in my experience.  I wish they shipped UPS....Fedex screws things up too often.  I'm not fond of Fedex and their culture of mediocrity.

I have a couple pairs, really like them.  They're probably overpriced a good bit at $175, but for $125 it's pretty reasonable and they're quite nice.

So I'm bored at work and clicked the "view all" button in the recent images section.  Gentleman, we have some amazing shoes.
