Why would you initially try to size up if you knew ahead of time the last ran long?

If you're wanting to keep that pair, I'd call customer service and see what they say.

I had a run of AEs with lumpy footbed. Some were returned immediately, others were kept and eventually broke in. The last time it happened, CAC told me to wear them a few times to see if it settled and if it didn't they'd replace or refund.

I think you'll probably be fine.  I checked the size chart on my nordstrom shoe trees and it says 8E uses M.

I use a M for my 8.5 D Wilbert and it fits fine without stretching.  But for the rest of my shoes, I use S (in 8D size).   If I put the M in the 8D, the shoe looks and feels it it is being stretched too much.  Because your shoes are wider than mine, the M should not stretch your shoes too much.   When it doubt, just follow the chart.   I have noticed several times the employees hand me a M for my 8D size and I have to ask them to please give me a S instead.

You can see below that for Nordstrom shoe trees, they recommend M, but AE recommends S for 8E.

It was a decent amount too big and so I went in to local AE store to try a 12. There you have it 12D it should have been. Picked up a visually stunning pair in a more caramely tone than the 13- and less burnishing.

The 13 showing my big toe with lots of room.

Here are the 12s!

Fit on the money. But one question of you all as I may try and take back. I believe the cork on the right shoe has a lump in it on ball of foot. It wasn't noticeable on carpet, but I stepped on my kitchen wood floor and it was very noticeable. I wouldn't sweat it unless the lump is massive. I've had this happen on one pair and the cork compressed just fine; several SAs I asked said the same thing at the time.
Never a bad idea to email AE or call your SA just to register the problem (officially or not), but if you are otherwise happy with the shoes I would keep.

Based on some comments on here about going up a size helping with placement of the flex point at the ball of the foot. So long meaning it tapers not that it runs "big." For example I have a 3 last shoe (Hanover that is a 12 and would work better for me in a 12.5 or 13. In the end apples, oranges and bananas and I knew I could go size correctly once I got back in town as I traveled for the whole April sale.

The fit on the 65 last on the Fifth Ave is also way better than the Strand, for me atleast.
The Strandmok is just plainly awesome. Pairs very well with chinos and khakis. And, I don't know, but I tried it with a light blue pair of shorts and I think it works.
Shit! i literally just realized, I'm short on shoe trees. Damnit! This means if the 2 for $40 shoetrees sale is still going on I might end up with an extra pair of shoetrees... And who in here have extra shoetrees just lying around? Of course it would need to be functionally accompanied by, what else, a new pair of AEs 💩

So true about the tan strandmok...these things look awesome with jeans...might just be the perfect daytime lace up casual shoe.

I had exact same thing on my Neumoks but on both shoes. It's dead center on the ball of the foot.

I didn't notice it until I left my house and walked outside.

I figured it was expected and it would compress and wear down. Not the case?

Yea it seems results may vary. After wearing them in the kitchen for a few minutes making dinner it started to bug me a bit. Calling tomorrow for advice.

To anyone with Saddle Suede color shoes (Boone and Strandmonk 2.0).... what belt are you matching?

AE doesn't make something in this color, i haven't found anything else yet... closest at the store was this leather natural color belt but I think I'd prefer a matching suede:

Here it is folks. Fifth Ave in Dk Chili. Just picked it up yesterday. Pretty exciting for me smile.gif

Right next to the Lexington, just for comparison:

And right next to the Fifth Ave in Walnut:

The walnut is 2nds. Most likely due to the brogueing on the right shoe (the holes aren't centered). Not a biggie for me. Love them both.

Going to the Costa Mesa store today to see if they have the Cheetah.  I'm curious as to what they look like in real life.

Just wanted to run a few questions past you AE experts. I'm attending a wedding in roughly a month's time and suppose I need some new shoes to go with my suit. Currently the only pair of AEs that I own are some orthotics that I picked up a few years ago at Nordstrom Rack for cheap when I needed some shoes quickly for a function. They are in the Chili color and I believe are known as the "Lake Forest" from 2013. They are a 9.5 D and I find that they fit quite comfortably. My question I suppose is what do you think my sizing would be in other AE lasts? My foot is generally pretty flat but I've never thought of it being all that wide. Several pairs of AE I have tried on seemed to be too narrow for me though. We have an AE outlet near us which is most likely where I will purchase my shoes so any last help is appreciated so I would know what to tell them should they need to order a pair for me from another store.

My 2nd question would be what AE colors do you guys think go well with a charcoal/dark charcoal suit? I know they classic would be black obviously, but black probably wouldn't fit into the rest of my wardrobe all that well. I'd prefer to find a shoe and color to wear with my suit but also that I would wear at other times with dark jeans or something since it's not everyday I have the need to wear a suit. Most people would probably tell me to just buy some beater shoes for the occasion but I have issues throwing money away on cheap shoes.

Cheers and thanks for any insight or help you can provide.

Dark Chili fifth avenues are the shoes you are looking for.

I had the same difficulty matching the Tan Color Strandmocks  ( w/Diannite Soles).  Even the  AE SP in NYC who assisted with the sale couldn't find a match.  However, as one who is not ashamed to look in discount stores, I did find a Timberland brand wide belt at a TJ Max that was almost a perfect match. Hope that helps.
