They actually charged me the $10 sole conversion fee to have a brown welt and sole edge put on my bourbon Strands, rather than the standard black.

I get the feeling that they're really trying to streamline their recrafting operation.

more like they want the sole to wear down so you come back for another recrafting... if they put JR soles... you'll never come back!

joking, somewhat lol

If you want JR soles, send them to B Nelson in NYC.

Please tell me where (or how) you got Cornwalli for $255. Thank you!!

I walked into my AE store to buy wax, as I wanted to upgrade my polishing protocol to mirror shine. I let them talk me into buying this along with the wax. Sadly, they just don't quite "get it" in the retail stores, as I think those of us that are willing to invest the time and discipline into a good shine are in a strong minority.

So I paid the $13 and I have to say I can see why it makes the shoes look shiny when they are new in the box, but it's pretty much going to be a single use application. So not bad for a quick way to make shoes "look" shiny, but it's hardly anything revolutionary in the process and hardly an improvement on the craft that is shoe care.

Got a few pairs delivered today

First up were the walnut Madison parks from Nordstrom. The color seems off but super comfortable. I actually like them better than the Mcallister but they are too similar for me too keep. I'll hold out for a future purchase of the walnut strand.

Second were the olive Shannon d drives. Wow, super comfortable but the color is going to take a bit to get used to. I'll likely keep them.

On Monday, brow Neumoks are getting delivered.

@neo1 I went to my local BCF today. Not a single pair of AE in any size to be found anywhere. Usually there aren't many. I've yet to find any deal like you and some of the other guys have mentioned. Consider yourselves lucky!

FYI

For any Chili heads out there,  I noticed a pair of Charles St.'s on Shoebank in 8D.  I believe its the Harry Rosen version of the Cornwallis, but I don't see the Cornwallis in Dark Chili on the AE site.  Didn't see an 8D available on the Harry Rosen site.

AE has dried up in the BCF's in my area.  I pass a bunch of them driving here and there so I pop in for a quick look pretty regular.  Just the same few old pairs that have been floating around for a while.  Same for other brands (like Cole Haan, Florsheim, J&M etc).   I wonder if BCF is transitioning to made for discount outlet shoes only?  I keep seeing the same Ultra-crappy brands, in the same styles, in all sizes, in all the stores I've stopped in.  Like they were made to order for BCF.

Cornwallises. Only -us takes -i as a plural. rolleyes.gif
Bloomingdale's. 15-25% off depending how much you spend, and code SHOP25 gets $25 off for every $100 you spend. Brings single pairs to $255, two pairs to ~$250 each, and three pairs to ~$225 each. It's taking a lot of willpower not to go crazy.

AE in BCF is more miss than hit. My last trip to Texas I stopped in 7 stores and found a single pair of Waltons, not my size. My local BCF at one time, would usually have 20-25 pairs of discontinues AE styles, but never in my 11 EEE size. Now it seems they have little to nothing. After a talk with the manager it seems they simply put out what arrives from the corporate buyers. If you EVER finding anything at BCF that you are thinking of getting you have to buy it on the spot. The chances of it ever arriving again are almost non-existent.

I am really liking my olive shannon drives! I treated them with AE leather conditioner cleaner and it made them a bit darker olive which I hated at first, but now like more for some reason. Before they were more like a light gray or brown, but now they really look olive without being gaudy. And yes, extremely comfortable, my most comfortable AE shoes by far.

This is not my size so I can't buy any, but I am intrigued by the walnut/bone summit avenue. Do you happen to have a picture of that shoe handy?

Can you take a few pics of the walnut Madison Parks?  I'm curious to see the color as you describe it.
