Thanks! Something about the morning light filtered through the clouds really made them pop.

On sale:
Yorktown in anything but black
McAllister ditto

Not on sale:
Oak Street in natural (or Lexington if they have it)
Rogue in chili
Leeds in oxblood or walnut
MacNeil in chili or walnut
Strand in anything but black
Delray in brown or walnut

This gives you a variety of lasts to try as well, maybe he'll find one that fits him perfectly.

I work in a similar atmosphere of high casual low biz casual. I like my Neumok and McTavish a lot for my work environment. I have khaki McTavish, blue Neumok, Burgundy Winfield AE shoes. I really like the Winfields too, but they feel more "formal and dressy" than any of my other shoes. I also have a gray Frye LWB, brown/chili vintage Dexter LWB, and then some lower end Doc Marten stuff to round out the stuff I normally wear to work. I have balanced budget buying on ebay with AE cravings so I don't break the bank. The AE, Dexter, Frye styles and colors I own work really well for me in this type of work environment. And despite people on this forum thinking the shoes I listed as not very formal or "dressy" most people's normal style outlook consider the shoes I mentioned as "dressy" with jeans and/or chinos. Or I should say at least they do in my work environment.

@SLCRich - I seem to be in the same dress continuum as your brother. I have a wide range of dress "requirements" and can find myself, on any given day, needing to suit up, just needing coat/button down/slacks, wearing chinos or jeans with sleeves rolled up, to remote or travel work days where I may be in anything from jeans to shorts. I have a pretty large shoe rotation (all AE, I might add!) that makes this possible.

However, if I were starting anew, I would find waaaaaaaay more value in shoes other than a (walnut) strand and park ave. I know this might conflict with the opinions on this board, but I think finding versatility amongst a couple shoes is really important, especially early on - and considering your brother's needs.

For example, of the 30+ AEs I own, you will not find a park ave, fifth ave, strand, etc.. Nothing against these models, they just aren't needed in my lineup/wardrobe. Instead, I have found more versatility in "variations" of these staples:

-a McTavish or Rush Street over other 5-lasted bals/wingtips;

-a boot like the Bleecker Street or 5th Street over a Fifth Ave or Strand;

-casual elements to more formal versions, like the McT, Rush St, suede Fullerton;

-bluchers that can be dressed up when needed (Kenilworth, Rogue, 1st Ave boots, even the Clark St) but also be casual workhorses.

Hope this helps!

Come on, man! What's one more pair, especially at $100 off? You know you want to join us for walnut Wednesday this week!

Hello,

Does anyone know if any of the AE seconds will be on sale this month with the Anniversary sale?

A few pages ago someone posted the pricing for the seconds that are on sale, which I believe are the same models that are on sale on the main site.  Call one of the outlets to be sure, though.

@MattRiv The set of 2nds that are on sale is completely different than the set of 1sts on sale. So there is a subset that have 2nds higher than 1sts. On top of that, in the store up in Maine, they have the correct pricing on the sale 2nds with no indication of the sale, but the models where the corresponding 1st was on sale have huge red anniversary tags on them, even though there is no discount. And now they don't even mention the 2nds sale on shoebank, but link you to the 1sts sale. I love this company, don't you?

Jeffersonville unadvertised sale. only there and only seconds. does not include bourbon.

I first checked Shoebank to see if they had the brown First Ave boot in my size. wasn't on Shoebank but I called Jeffersonville and they had them: First Ave for $249.  Worth a call.

Again this is only at Jeffersonville and are seconds:

Lasalle $279 now $179

Addison $239 now $189

Badlands $239 Now $189

Maxfield $219 now $169

Neumok $219 now $169

Leeds 2.0 $299 now $199

MacNeil 2.0 $299 now $199

Grayson $299 now $199

Randolph $299 now $199

Mora 2.0 $299 now $199

Ascher $299 now $199

Fifth Street Boot $299 now $199

First Ave Boot $349 now $249

Road Warrior’s – Retail $295 - 2nds $239 now $189

I can verify that the Fifth Streets are on sale, per the computer at the Destin store - as I may or may not have ordered another pair of boots. And a third pair of Kirkwoods that were on clearance.

Just picked this up on Ebay. New, unworn, with the tags still attached.

Processed By eBay with ImageMagick, z1.1.0. ||B2

Anyone know when they stopped making these?

I got home today to find my AE Wartons had arrived. Paid 36 for these on ebay and just under 50 after shipping. Pleasantly surprised they are new. The sale add said pre'owned but the interior of the shoe appears as though they have never been worn. These appear to be second quality with a few very minor discolorations on the leather upper, but not noticeable at eye level. I consider these a steal for what I paid and I am very happy... :-)
