Which would be the most suitable for sockless with shorts? Would the Randolph be considered more or less formal since the strap goes all the way down? Thanks.

I'd appreciate this insight as well. I'm looking to make a purchase in the next week or so.

If we count boots, then I am at seven. Can you guess what's missing? That's right, #8 LWB. Maybe I will man up and get a pair of Alden's. Here is my current wingtip arsenal:

AE Dalton - dark chili boot
AE Long Branch - brown boot
AE Aberdeen - brown LWB
Florsheim Imperial - chili grain LWB
AE Madison park - walnut SWB
AE McTavish - cognac SW bal
BB by AE Suede wingtips - snuff SW bal

AE Jefferson        Dark brown calf                 "
AE Neumok         Snuff suede                       "
AE Heritage (MTO)  walnut & bone               "
Florsheim Imperial    #8 shell              LWB
RLxAE Sanderson   dark brown          LWB
Carmina (Detroit)    cognac shell         LWB
AE Macneil          Walnut grain            LWB

Nine wing-tips would suggest a problem.  But 8, that's merely being prepared.

Haha, I think the very act of frequenting an Internet message board to talk about shoes constitutes a serious mental condition, no matter how many pairs one owns.

That being said, I used to have three MORE AE wingtips: walnut Dalton, brown austerity brogue, black Jeffersons. But I just wasn't wearing them, so they had to go. frown.gif

Some info I gathered - id appreciate some rep points so I can get past my 4 green things.

1. I was told at the retail store I could bring in one non-stocked style to try and it would be held for 7 days. Hey, better than nothing.

2. The outlet is going to start carrying made for outlet styles that are first quality and won't be listed online, for 199. Weird, wonder how that will work. Guess they're clearing space for these, the first of which is like a Lexington blucher clone.

3. I can confirm that the jville price list posted was in effect at Freeport, so it is probably outlet wide.

What are you guys looking for regarding those loafers? I tried them all and they're different like night and day. Not sure where to start.

Great info. #2 is interesting. That's probably to clear stock of old end-run leathers and soles, like they do for Black Friday. They've been doing this for Nordstrom rack for a few years now. Makes sense.

Btw, I'm considering changing my name to Captain Kenilworth...

Here's been my short lived experience with AE loafers.  For comparison, I'm a 9d in just about every last...

Ascher (calf leather): fits like a glove, snug but not restrictive

Patriot (calf leather): snugggggggggg, but once on, no problems and fits just about like the Ascher.

Cavanaugh (calf leather): zero chance a 9d would work, went up half a size in the store and it worked a lot better (still this was only walking around the store.)

Cavanaugh (suede leather): went up half a size based on store experience and fits more like a slipper...for suede I think 9d would have been perfect.  But I love the color and I'm stubborn so I'm manipulating these as best I can :)

Lake Forrest and Lake Bluff and Grayson.  9d at the store all worked for me.  Once again though, this is just walking in circles in the store.  The above 3 (sans Cavanaugh calf) I have real world experience in.

Do you really want to switch those beautiful navy shell Carminas for the Kenilworths in your avatar?

#2 is very interesting. I hope it is a matter of getting rid of excess raw materials, etc and will have no bearing on the quality of the regular lines. But then, do they generate that much excess materials to warrant "outlet only" models? For example, their belts for outlets only are made from pretty crappy materials, clearly not what they use on the regular stuff.

You really need at LEAST 4 more, so you can run a 4 week rotation.  7 more to play it safe so you don't have to wear the same pair twice in any month.

Yes, you do. I have 5 chukkas with two more on order.

I have 4 (plus 2 non-AE) and Shell Dundee's on order.  But I think know I would trade them all for those Natty Dundee's.

The Randolph looks like it has a pointier toe, but it's hard to tell how much. Also, which would you say is the most/least casual? I pretty much wear the same size in anything, so @slcrich's info was helpful in that regard. One review said the Lake Forest felt like his foot was in a vise, so that makes me a bit nervous.
