Polished up the walnut Rogues for tomorrow's outfit. They have a bit more than one year of wear on them and have only seen brushing and sporadic light applications of AE neutral polish. I avoid the AE walnut polish because I do not like the somewhat reddish hue that can result, and these have deepened to a pretty intense orange over time.

Perfect for a colorful spring outfit. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Happy Easter to those who observe the holiday, and may everyone have an enjoyable Sunday!

I do this on a pair of Frye oxfords of mine with the exact same problem and it makes the flaw imperceptible.

So Doc...after having my daughter read your excellent poetry, she promptly said "This is you now!..you're addicted to Allen Edmonds." Little does she know, I have some MTO dark brown shell Randolphs on order...rice and beans for the next six weeks!

My  recently acquired Burgundy Shell PAs were ordered with a double JR sole for a small up-charge. (That particular SA would've let me order the pair with two different size shoes!) As for the the the Randolphs,  I just couldn't justify another pair of Strands just to get to the brown Shells.  So , we negotiated a Sole-for Souls  order,  by having them make the Randolphs in the brown cordovan for an even smaller up-charge.  If I ever figure out how to post these pictures of my recent acquisitions  ( i.e. my Indy Br Bartletts, Walnut FAs, Shell PAs and Randolfs) with this outdated cell phone...in fact, I even wore my watch, which I never wear...and purchased some swanky socks, just to pay homage to WatchIdiot!  Also, fwiw, last day for Sole-for-Souls is March 31st!

Anyone own AE and Brooks Bros version of the same shoe? Do you notice the Brooks version is more bulbous than the AE version. I have a Brooks PA and it appears wider and thicker than the AE version. Or is it just me?

Thx

I haven't noticed this specific to BB models. AE has loads of physical "copies" of their last's to facilitate mass production. Could just be that they vary ever so slightly in shape one from the other. I have 5 pairs pf shoes on the 5 last (and used to have 4 more), and I swear that half of them look slightly different from the other half...

Yeah I'm starting to think that AE's just aren't keeping up with more modern styles of men's clothing. The more slim contemporary aesthetics of men's clothing do not mesh well with AE styling. Maybe I'm wrong here...

I guess that really depends on your style. If you are a super euro style guy with the need for sleeker shoes than AE might not be for you. If you are a more conservative American style then AE is perfect. I have no issues wearing these with euro cut suits and clothes myself.

I'm now awaiting the announcement of the First Annual Styleforum Freestyle Rap Battle...

Yeah, that actually was pretty good.

Maybe just because I think a wingtip blucher boot like the dalton is easier to pull off in the rather flashy walnut color than a cap toed balmoral. Don't get me wrong, both great shoes.

Another rec for the Dalton boots in walnut. I got a really good deal on a pair here on the forum, and have been wearing them all winter:
AE Dalton boots

They look great and have held up very well. I find that AE quality varies tremendously by model, and these are among the best I've seen. Very happy with them.
