Day two, conquered the Animal Kingdom with a pair of Navy shell Dundees from that same-size-footin', shell-pushin', barn-weaslin' @gatszu! The mint-chip milkshake made up for the overcast day.

Aside from splash mountain, your feet aren't really getting wet. It takes a really good soaking in order for shell to develop welts IME.

Ah! +1 bajillion for navy shell chukkas!

Are you there with kids? My shoes would be in more danger from stray food / drink spills.

stevesnamebrand - they're on the upper end in terms of cost, but they've got a ton of AEs and the quality is pretty consistent.

my rule has been to spend no more than $100 for a pair of AEs and i've only violated it once - on the larchmonts (cause they were close to new, never worn from what i could tell).  however, the sweet spot has been closer to $60, i even got the fairhavens for <$15.

i'll typically start my hunt with the following search (that i got from styleforum, i believe) and start bookmarking items i like:

happy hunting!
Whoa.... awesome and thanks!

After happily applying VSC to about 15 shoes, some of them several times, I found I had gone through more than half of this small bottle I bought at the link I supplied in an earlier post. I have since gone to the "Big Gulp" size VSC that should last me til I pass from this mortal coil. 32 ounces of shoe creamy goodness. This can be purchased here and as of this posting they had 9 cans in stock for those who are interested.

Here's the first post.

Here's the first example of someone embracing it.

Everything after that is from the barnweasels running with it.

And, as always, I thank all of you filthy barnweasels for enabling me in my pursuit of shoes-I-don't-need-but-really-want.

I keep waiting for something really awesome to pull the trigger on, but it just hasn't popped up yet.

Apologies to @donkeyhoatie for misattributing the original barn weasel post!

In the spirit of that, a non-haiku anecdote: I got the above-spoilered Hopkinsons for a ridiculous price on the 'bay.  They were originally seconds and hadn't even seen a full day of wear based on the soles.  Other than some inelegant wheeling on the sole, the only real issue was that the right toe cap was a bit misaligned.  I wasn't sure whether or not I could live with it, but the photos I took for you barn weasels convinced me otherwise.  The photo above is the worst angle for the toe cap and it's not readily apparent.

Yet another example of filthy barn weasel enabling.

Honestly, I even hate going to pee when I'm wearing natural shell. There's always a few drops that manage to get on them. :(

@smfdoc what did you use prior to VSC? I recently switched from AE cleaner/conditioner only to a light coat of it to clean followed by Bick 4, and have been happy with the results. But I might give the VSC a try. Seems to be pretty cheap if you buy the big container.

I just used VSC on my Oxblood Strands for the first time. I noticed quite a bit of color rubbing off on my soft rag. I let it sit for about an hour before buffing. I wasn't really impressed with the shine afterwards. Do I need to put another coat on or just keep buffing?

Is there a distinct difference between Venetian Shoe Cream and Lexol Conditioner? I use Lexol and AE shoe cream.

I've never used VSC. If you don't get an answer here, you might want to try the shoe care thread.
