Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc - Page 983

I just spoke with a SA and have been told the Shell Dundee has NOT been discontinued and they can be ordered. Currently if they order them they are on an 8 week waiting period so this is perhaps why they aren't up there. Furthermore I inquired about the Jingle Bell Mok having disappeared at the launch of the RDA sale along with the Rudolph Strandmok. I'm not sure if this intended to be public knowledge but if you call they can order them and they are on sale. It says the wait period is 15 weeks and I was told this is because production hasn't started and they are generally made in batches as orders come in rather than having inventory. So I recommend calling and trying to place an order for them if you want them at 15% off.

I believe that what you've got there is a Dawson from the early 90s. Look at page 24 in the Fall 1994 catalog. It came on the 612 last, which that catalog states was larger than normal to accommodate an orthotic insole.

Thanks! Yes, they are natty. I think I just got a darker pair, which I am completely fine with.

Denim deets below

Jeans and Pants content (non-AE) (Click to show)

The denim is Banana Republic's Japanese Traveler Jeans. They are super comfortable, the material is soft and there is a bit of a stretch to them.

I found them in store on the 50% off sale rack. The model that I have appears to be sold out online (Link Below) with not quite as good a sale.

There are many new models of the Japanese Traveler jean, (link below) also in store, but they are a bit pricier...well nothing compared to AE shoes :-P

I also picked up three pairs of the Aiden Mini Dobby Stretch Pant and I love them. I recommend going in store and trying these out as well.

These look awesome! Can't wait to see how they look later after they're broken in more. They should be fantastic.

Did you keep a suede tongue on these? Or, did you go shell for the tongue? Just curious. I'm assuming you went shell. But, hey, who knows?

There's no wrong answer here, but if those were mine, I would probably explore other size options.

Looking better. Unfortunately you wont know how much more give you will get until wearing them beyond return state. You seem to love them so why not stick it out. I could be wrong but your socks look quite thick and might be a contributing factor.

The second picture is certainly improved and I could keep or return them depending on how much I like the shoes, the other fit characteristics, how good of a deal I got on the price and if I have anything else in the collection that may replace them. I think the change in the gap after three hours is more of a reflection of the effect of squeezing fluid out of the foot than actual stretching of the leather or compression of the insole. I have the same fit issues and I personally just elected to purge this type of fit from my collection. But that is really a personal decision. The width of the gap can even vary in a blucher and exceed what I personally think looks good on my foot. The suede longwing I have on today closes like this.

The Boone I picked up looked excessively wide to my eyes and back it went. Much of this is a personal decision on what you believe looks good on you.

Thanks everyone.

Remember these were only $147 so the price was right, many have said that they will stretch some, feet will sink in some, and I been wearing them all day now so even on the carpet I think I am beyond being able to return them as it's clear they were worn.

So I think I am stuck giving them a try I don't think I can return them office carpet is still abrasive I guess.

ace13x said he would like to see a pic tied norm so I untied them took a few steps, then just enough to get them snug with no tightness and this is the photo.

For sure there is more gap than is desirable, I guess I have a high instep and probably this is not the best style for my foot shape. Since these are seconds and there are no more trying a wider shoe is not an option. Normally wider does not work for me I have a few Steens on the 108 a real narrow last. I have Steens in both 10D and 10E the D's are always tight from the start and take many wears to fit without being too tight. The E fits good from the start but always ends up feeling to loose overall. For me my D Steen that I endured the pain for fits like a glove now and the E I  feel is just too loose. Now since the 108 is the narrowest last I own and an E is not that great a fit I would think this Shelton on a wider last would be to wide.

I think for the price I guess I will wear them several times and see how it goes I can always put them up on eBay and recoup some of the cost if things don't work out.

Overall the fit front to back and side to side is good only issue is the V due to my high instep and this messing up the look of the shoe.

Sounds like they will pull in a 1/4" over time and I could get thinner socks these are med I would say.

As for the shoe I think I am liking the double leather sole and maybe since these are double leather my foot will sink in a bit more closing the gaps some?

Very cool is an understatement. I don't think anyone in my cube farm heard it, but I made an audible gasp when this pic popped up. Color me shell-ous.

They are very cool -- they were made for a friend who is not on the forum. The tongue is shell.
