Pic of my pair great for weekend.

And the Shannon Drives are fully leather lined, unlike the Strandmok, etc. which have a partial lining...

Thank you.  They're Rugby Ralph Lauren socks.

Similar socks (in more colors than Rugby Ralph Lauren used to have) are available from Dapper Classics.

A slightly cooler morning was all the excuse I needed to wear boots today while working from home and running errands. As if I needed an excuse...
Distressed light(er) denim and MTO Normandy.

The finish I could maybe deal with considering this has been my austerity brogue target, but the misaligned eyelets are a bit more annoying. If these were seconds I'd be more forgiving of the appearance but for firsts I'm not sure I want to settle, even on sale. Also disappointed to find out it only has a half sockliner, not a full length one. What do y'all think?

Thanks for this review. Most surprising to me is that they're using a half sockliner on a USA dress shoe. Disappointing.  I know that those DR mocs have the 1/2 sockliner but is this for all mainline shoes now? That's gotta be costcutting.

As for the cancellation/postponement of the trunk show, not too disappointed. Not a lot of current models that I was excited about . I would have probably gone with the Cornwallis, but I don't have a handle on that new last. Maybe by the time they roll out the new one, they'll bring back the 333 last :inlove:

Thursdays call for a serious shoe.  New laces make these look better imo.

As a fairly new AE customer, I would like to get the forums opinion regarding the Mcallisters in chili and strandmok's I just received today.

In regards to the Mcallisters in dark chili, my local AE store did not have them in stock so these were shipped to me. I am a little surprised to see how dark they are. I know the website doesn't have the best stock photos, but even the pair I saw in the store looked significantly lighter in color then the ones I received. Is it worth exchanging for another pair or is there a good chance the other pairs will be just as dark?

Below is a photo of the strandmok's in 9.5E. Do these tend to stretch a lot since they are unlined? I wouldn't want them to stretch to the point that their will eventually be no gap in the laces. As always thank you for the input.

The Macallisters look like dark chili to me and I doubt if you would get anything lighter than this with the same shoe. I also would not expect the Strandmok to stretch to the point where there would be no gap between the laces. I think the gap if fine and, baring some massive change in your foot, it will not close all the way.

Hmmm... those look quite brown to me. Does the number inside match the number for dark chili?

You might get "chili" that are lighter but dark chili will be darker like those are. The strandmoks aren't going to completely close after break in. Looking good to me!

I've been tossing around what I would want to get in shell if this trunk show comes to fruition. I think I've settled on 4 things I'd like and will (probably) widdle it down to two. Navy Shell Macneil's with an antique edge, Navy Shell Cornwallis, Natural Shell Bartlett or Strand (preferably Bartlett), Natural Shell Mora 2.0 (I threw around the idea of Navy shell in these but I don't think I'd wear them often enough to do it). My concern is the Macneils because I hate how blucher attachment piece touches the long wing. Other manufacturers seem to create more distance there and I think it looks better. Thoughts?

Yeah, the blucher touches the long wing and there is nothing that will change that. I prefer it higher, like on my Hanovers and Florsheims, but it is what it is.

But total +1 agreement on the blue MacNeil with the antique edge. That is exactly what I decided already as well. Here is @watchidiot pair. How could you not covet these babies?

I thought about someday, ordering a blue Walton.  But I'm sad to learn that they don't offer it for every shoe.

So here I am going by the AE site that clearly says 511 and this being a good fit could influence purchases and I am being mislead by AE's incorrect data.

BTW, did your Malones come with the orange laces?

The numbers inside match correctly with the dark chili color code. For whatever reason, the color just seems much darker then I had expected. Would it be safe to say the Mcallister in oxblood wouldn't look any lighter?

I think that a McAllister in oxblood would look lighter than your dark chili. If you look at the last 2 or 3 pages in this thread, you'll see photos of oxblood Fifth Avenues and Park Avenues, which both look lighter than your McAllisters. Of course, they'll also have much more of a red tone and less brown, so it really depends on what you want.
