New Shelton 2.0's - sorry, couldn't wait for an "S"-day for an alliterative maiden voyage. These are my new favorites, the 201 last redesign is fantastic - sleeker silhouette but still high instep-friendly.

I've decided I'm going to replace most of my balmoral shoe laces with flat laces.  Not only do they stay tied better, but they are more comfortable at the arch. Laccico laces are awesome.  No, I don't get a cut from them for posting this.

I'm planning on ordering a pair of the Blue Suede Strandmoks that AE has on clearance right now and am wondering if anyone could offer any size comparisons for the 201 last they're built on?

Sometime's I've found AE's unlined suede shoes to be worth sizing down, since they're so flexible.

My Park Aves (65 last) fit like a glove in 8E, but my unlined Amoks (234 last) are perfect in 8 1/2D.

Appreciate any words of wisdom : )

My fifth avenues in dark chili just arrived. Aside from minor creasing on the other shoe, this shoe has some scuffs on the heel. Would you keep these for the $50 discount? The fit is spot on like all my AE shoes.

Anybody know anything about the Allen Edmonds Lloyd? Can't tell if the pair I'm looking at is burgundy in good shape or polished cobbler. It doesn't appear to have the plastic-shine that polished cobbler has, but that might just be the lighting in the photos.

Code on it is 67939.

Well now that the Hurricane is over and the SC showbanks are reopen I got a call about the 2nd Shelton 1.0 that I was thinking about for $147.

They tell me the shoe is perfect as far as they can see so I went for it should have it this week.

Worse case I don't like it I will return it to the shoebank near work they don't charge me a fee so there is no risk.

I was going to go for the Shelton 2.0 but huge price diff even on sale so decided to see how I like the 1.0 from the bank.

I am slightly limited in my experience with the 201 (too much volume for my flat feet) and still trying to zero in my size (despite having 35+ AEs), so take this with a grain of salt...

I brannock about 9.5D (heel to ball closer to 10.5), own the Amok in 9d, couple handfuls of 65s in 9D (one in 9.5D), and First Aves/Freiburg in 9D. Can't imagine going any shorter for a 201. In fact, I would have tried to go up to 9.5C if the option was available.

Hi guys. Fairly new to the forum and Allen Edmonds. I recently picked up a pair of Higgins Mills and was wondering whether any of you treat your boots with a conditioner prior to wearing. This is my first quality pair of boots. I normally condition and shine my dress shoes prior to wearing. Thanks for any input. Love the forum thus far.

Shell Strands. Deli aisle. Sheli Strands?

New AE for BB grain Macneils.  I now have all three grain versions of this shoe:  brown on dainite, a lighter brown for BB and now this in black.  I love the thick double leather sole with tap feature, the carefree nature of the grain leather  along with the last which fits me perfectly.  No more shoes till I get this one in shell.

Trunk show PSA: I talked with my SA about the the rumored shell trunk show. He hadn't heard anything but made some calls and shared the following:
1. Should start on or around 10/23
2. The sale should include a few colors (he semi-confirmed navy) but also said that AE was hoping for both natural and whiskey as well. He was unsure about ruby.
3. The sale hasn't been announced yet because AE is waiting to get shells from horween (this is likely also the cause of the uncertainty around exact colors).
4. The shell upcharge will be waived, but the RDA discount on shell will likely not apply (i.e. shoes will be $650)

Well that is good news, but I am still unclear on what policy there will be on selecting a style to be made in shell. For example, I would love to get a Rogue in shell and it seems like I hear that is possible and I am told that it is impossible. Just picking new colors for those shoes already available in cordovan would not help me much.

I'm pretty sure that you can get any current AE model in the shell color of your choice during the trunk show. That wouldn't include the rogue because it is not a current model (was discontinued earlier this year along with the Steen and all on the 333 last), but would include the Carlyle (for instance) which does not normally come in shell.
At other times during the year, you can get shell in and current model, but you are limited in color (black/brown/burg) and have to pay an upcharge (something like $125).

TL;DR - pick any current (non-closeout) model and you can get it in shell. You won't pay for the privilege during the trunk show and get to choose from more colors.

This one is tough.   I would probably return and just pay the $50 for a first.  It sounds like the sales person did not accurately describe all the problems with the shoes.  I don't mind dents and creases, but color issues can be much more difficult to resolve.

Thanks. I tend to agree. He described the creasing on one shoe, but I suspect that he didn't even take the time to look at the other shoe because it's very noticeable.
