And we can use them with a wide range of shoes rather than the few models that shell is typically limited to.

Nothing official--that's just what I've heard from a few sales associates.

Hope at least the navy blue is true! I'm not sure what i'd get in Ruby Red or Green. I'm sure someone here will have some suggestions though!

The blue is the one color they've repeatedly told me they were almost positive would be available. They weren't quite sure about the green, and I never heard about the red.

First trip out for The Harrison. Representing my company at the Congressional Medal of Honor Society convention at U.S. Bank Stadium. So in awe, I didn't notice my laces were askew. Not in awe of the place, but the people represented on the stage.....

I'm thinking Ruby Red Cornwallis or St. Johns/Mora 2.0 or maybe even the Washington Square.

I didn't realize that the Navy calf Strand, Cornwallis and Park Ave were available.

When talking about "ruby red" shell, are we talking about Horween #2 color?

And if anyone can tell me how I can participate and buy during the shell event when I'm living way out near D.C.....

Is it that hard to call a store and ask?

No it's not.  I don't think my local AE store has ever advertised such an event, but if this is available at any store, I'll be good.

I also have a question about Strands. They're still new, but when I was brushing them before today's pic, I saw this.

Is this just a typical welt joining? Or is it cracked? Worth doing anything about, or should I just put some edge dressing on it?

Its nothing.  I wouldn't worry about it.  A for edge dressing, chili is going to be darker than they are now.  If your OK with that, go for it, if not, neutral is the way to go.  Personally, I love chili, but on Walnut uppers, I like to keep the edge lighter.  Chili fas a touch of red, and I find brown too opaque.  Wish the made a more transparent brown.

I agree that the little notch where the ends of the welt meet is normal and not a problem. I personally wouldn't touch it. But, if it's bothering you, you might be able to use something like this (http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/preparation/minwax-stainable-wood-filler) to fill the little gouge, and then "stain" it with some chili or neutral edge dressing.

Hello fellow barnweasels, long time listener, first time caller here.

Looking for a bit of sizing advice in advance of the RDA sale.  I'm looking to add 1 or maybe 2 pairs of shoes (probably seconds) as part of the sale, and I've got a couple on my radar (most likely seconds if I can get them):

Brooks Warwick

Brooks MacNeil

Rogue

Warwick (in Oxblood, because Oxblood)

My brannock is 9.5D/E (right on the border) and I have a fairly high instep.  My 65 last balmorals (Strand, McAllister, Park Ave) are 9E, and have a decent V-gap (maybe 1/2" on the PA, more like 3/4" on the Strand).  I also have a pair of Carlyle in 9E that fit like slippers with nearly no gap, and MacGregors in 9D that also fit really well after some slight break-in.

Given that the Rogue is the 201 last and a blucher, I'm thinking 9D there.  What I'm not sure about is the Warwick, specifically if I could get away with a 9D in that, or if I'd have to jump to a 9E.  Similarly for the MacNeil, does the 97 last run shorter than the 201/65 last?

Any wisdom that I can gain from the greater community?

I would start with 9D on the 201.  Maybe its just me, but to my feet it seems a tiny bit longer than the 65, maybe a 8.5E would be good too???  I also feel the 97 is a touch shorter than the 201/65, I stuck with my 65 length but dropped from an E to a D.

For reference I brannock 8.5 D/E, and take an 8E in the 65 dress balmorals (PA, Strand, etc).  I can wear 8D in the 201, but the instep is not as good, E is too wide. 8D in my Brooks MacNiels.  Also, I got the Sauk Dr. (201) in 8D, it feels too long, love them but I may have to get rid of them.

Lots of us have ordered from this event in the past. You'll see the shoes we've gotten if you go back through the thread.

Mine from the 2014 event:

It took forever for them to finish them because they messed up the first pair, but it was worth it. They're beautiful.

There goes the retirement account.  They're going to have to fashion a casket out of my shoes, because I'm going to die penniless.

Yes, would you happen to know if any shades of brown will be offered? Even standard dark brown?
