Loose on width (they only had EEE during the sale), which makes sense with your explanation.

Never helps in the midst of the hassles, but at least AE CS is always willing to take care of us.

I have a feeling that the popularity of the HM caught AE by surprise and they rushed to put out more product.  I suppose that after the Odenwald and Sturgis, they may have thought there just wasn't as much demand, when the reality was, make a better product and the floodgates will open.

I'm waiting for AE to make a similar shoe in a moccasin toe design.  Time to go head to head with the Alden Indy boot.  Are you reading this, Paul?  I know many people are fans of Dainite, but I prefer the breathability of a leather sole. A cork sole like the Alden Indy or the Redwing Iron Ranger would be okay too.  It would feel like a real workboot.

A moc toe boot like you describe, coupled with a mini-lug outsole, would be excellent.  As it stands now there is very little about AE offerings that excite me, but that would get my wallet open again.

I called and asked.  They had to take it down as they had too many backorders for the gray that it was 12 weeks out in production.  :(  They have a leather shortage in Grey just like they did on Midnight Navy.

When I got my first Dundee (aloo my first AE), I wanted the Bitter Chocolate.  They didn't have any examples in the retail stores but a salesman at one of the NYC locations had a personal pair he shoed me.  Its nice, but IMO the Loden and Snuff are nicer and perhaps more versatile.

As for lacing, theres only 3 eyelets, so not a whole lot of options.  I over-under and don't think bar-lacing would be very practical.  Maybe they just do it on the website for the pictures.

I do like the Loden color at least in theory, but I am not sure how functional it would be for me aside from wearing with denim. Perhaps I'm not keeping an open enough mind about it. I believe @Middlife has a pair and I liked the looks of his.

Was your issue that the Bitter Chocolate is too dark? As I already have the Fullertons in Snuff Suede, my first inclination would be Bitter Chocolate. However, I've only seen the online pictures and not in person.

These arrived from the shoe bank today. Took me a second to realize out what the defect was. Never seen something like this. Trying to figure out how this came to be. How about some suggestions?

I agree but the pictures never do the shoes justice.  You'd have to see them in person to really decide, at least that's my two cents.

Wrong Sole that's how.  Did you get them from the CAC?

Looks to me like you have two issues.  One is the laces the other is one has a scalloped sole the other is flat.
