Wow, great to see so many EEs!

What do you guys wear to the office? I feel that my AEs with khakis and a polo already get enough attention, but I know I can dress better without being too out of place.

What do you generally wear - 7.5 all the time? No width change? With no other info, my generic response would be that 4/5 people would probably hate the ascher in any size, 1/5 would love it like crazy.
Hi yes should provide more information. Sorry my bad. Wore uk6.5 for loake capital and 6.5uk for yanko as well for last915. Loake lincoln loafer n 6.5uk is too long and narrow forme. I have limited shoes so unable to provide more last for comparision so brannock might help I hope. Thanks

Engineers are an important part of the future! Actually making the move from EE to Program Management at my company is what alerted me to my limited style knowledge. If I were to ever return to engineering and didn't want to appear too formal, I would probably stick with button downs/chinos as my go-to.

@DeathandTaxes I wouldn't mess around with that personally. Anything that could mess with your back is sketchy.

Alrighty gentlemen, another question for y'all.

Below are some photos of my Fifth Avenues from the Shoebank, which are my first pair and were purchased a few months ago.

To get the size right for these, I went into an AE Retail store. I was sized 11C in the right foot on the Brannock, but the left foot is closer to 10.5. On that day, I had wider pants on, more traditional than I usually wear, and they had a full break. So I wasn't even looking at the ankle area; it was covered up. 11C is incredibly comfortable for me in the 65 last.

Most importantly, I am COMPLETELY flat footed. I think that is where my problem lies.

I wore these shows in to the AE store on another day, and after talking to an SA was given tongue pads. These photos are taken with the tongue pads in, although the I can lace them up tighter and probably should have for the photos:

I truly think that the bulging in the ankles would be eliminated if I had an arch in my foot. If I physically arch my foot I can see them start it go away.

SO - what would you guys recommend? Heel pads? Insoles that cover the heel and arch only? Other insoles? (There are some called "flat fix" by Profoot)

OR - and I am afraid of this - did I just buy 2 pairs of 65 last AE shoes in the wrong size? Haha...I am very scared of that option. But they are comfy in the toe box and heel, with no heel slip, so there's that.

Finally - any fellow flat-foots here?

My advice would be to bar lace those so that you can get max closure using the method outlined at this link: http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/straighteuropeanlacing.htm

I have a narrow flat foot (12 B) and I find that lacing my wider shoes in this way will help me to lock my foot into the shoe and eliminate the bowing that you see in your pics. Also, make sure you tie them tight. Give it a try and send us some new pics for evaluation.

Strandmok Sunday?
I thought that it was suede Sunday!

@MattRiv thank you so much! Will lace them that way, tie tight, and wear to work tomorrow and take similar photos!

Do any of you have Allen Edmonds's messenger bags? If so, what do you think of them?

I do. I got the walnut front pocket briefcase or whatever it was called. Got it as "seconds". Really like the aesthetic, but it's not necessarily a heavy duty one and i'm not sure I would pay full price for one.

That said, I get compliments on it all the time.

I was considering buying a new work bag for myself as a Christmas present. I may jump on this one a couple of months early:

I had similar bowing (posted about it a few months ago) when wearing a D width shoe. I have moderately flat feet and going to an E width helped reduce the effect. Also as mentioned above, tying tightly helps!

After intense pressure from @St Hubbins I bought a ticket to today's movie of Dr. Strangelove.

I was really tempted, as a tribute to the cold warriors, to wear my 1969 vintage Florsheim LWBs. But I opted for Shreveports for comfort.

Is it possible to get AE to make a shoe in a leather they carry but not in that style or no? Would love a brown cordovan Dalton - they make the patriot, dundee and a few others in brown cordovan but not the dalton.
