Nice!! Those Bourbon PAs and Walnut Lexingtons really caught my eye. Great collection sir[/quote]

Thanks. Been building "slowly" (both thanks to and in spite of the weasels) since the beginning of the year. The Lexingtons definitely get the most wear since they are on Dainite even though they aren't an ideal fit; tongue pad thrown in by Kristle from Jeffersonville during the McGregor order helps as does bow tie lacing inspired by @peppercorn78 and his suede McA's

Just a PSA... I think the trunk show might be happening sooner than next spring, as has been mooted around here.

Just in case anyone was thinking... hmm.. I can blow the shoe account for now and still be ok come spring, and then the biennial trunk show rolls around and your wallet looks like this:

What makes you think that?

Giving some love to the shell Strands I was lucky enough to acquire during the seconds sale.

Can anyone tell me how the GOBI compares to the Dundee?  Are they both similar?  Is the toe soft on one?

Is there any Intel on what special color shell offerings may be available during the trunk show?

My experience is that Gobi is much more flimsy and soft, almost like it is a towel than a shoe.  No experience with the Dundee.

Depends on which Gobi and which Dundee. I've tried the Gobi Tan Saddle and the Dundee 2.0 Brown Burnished Calf, same size. The Gobi is much roomier in the toe and probably a tad longer overall too. The Gobi's leather is also softer and more forgiving. Both have structured toes.

Love my Dundee 2.0 in Brown Burnished Calf.   Foot bed is comfortable and toe box is room.  The double butyl sole makes a huge difference too.  I don't have experience with the Gobi though.

Every one of these comments people made about the two of them are spot on IMO.  I own the Gobi - the price was insanely cheap and I couldn't pass it up.  It's very roomy up front (yeah, lobster's thing about a towel is pretty accurate).  They are very soft and unlined and within the first day almost they developed some uber nasty creasing.  If I could have gone down a 0.5 sizes in length and down two widths they would have been awesome but as is, I am held in (heel fit) so they're ok.  Not a glove fit but very comfortable.

When I tried the Dundee it felt very typical in the toe to a standard 511 lasted shoe but the heel wasn't quite to my liking.  Not overly overly large but like I just wasn't held in and was slipping around just a bit.  Sometimes you can never tell with these - when you initially get some heel slip, there is a chance they will mold to you over time and it will go away, but there is also a chance that they will stretch and the heel slip will get even worse.  For the price of the Dundee I just wasn't willing to take that chance.

Bottom line, length I am hard pressed to tell you which was longer, but the Gobi was absolutely roomier.

Do you remember your first pair? The one that pulled you in? My dk brown park aves helping me finish off wedding season proper. Apologies for the lighting, the open whisky bar distracted me in the daylight.
