Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc - Page 822

Hello all! I am new here - at least for posting.

A quick story - Several months ago I wore only Ecco dress shoes. I had 3 pairs. When one of them started falling apart I began doing research and learned all about Goodyear welting, the horrors of the square toes shoes I had, and what true quality shoes are.

Long story short, with much thanks to this forum, I have gotten rid of one pair of Eccos, sold another, and replaced them with these:

Fifth Avenue - Black w/Dainite soles (2nds)
Strand - Walnut (1sts) - with Walnut Manistee belt

I am 29 but have had Allen Edmonds in the back of head since high school per the advice of my older cousin who works in finance and has been wearing and recrafting the same pair of Allen Edmonds for 20 years!!

Anyway - reason for this post is I need some advice.

I recently also picked up the last pair of Mora 2.0 seconds in 11.5B in Bourbon - for $177. When speaking with the SA on the phone, I told him I was worried about tiger striping. He assured me they were really in "very good shape for Bourbon" and would not mention any specific issues. Here are pics:

Can I get your opinions on keep/return? Honestly, they don't look that bad when I've got them on. But there is some weird stretching up close on the sides.

Thanks guys!!!

I'd keep them. Look good. The more I see some of these Mora's the more I want a pair.

Totally agree. The folding on the side will not be noticeable when wearing and will look just fine. Great shoe and great price.

These look excellent. ..surprisingly, I think I prefer the bar/straight lacing on these

Its unicorn time!! While perusing the old interwebs I ran across this pair of MacNeils for sale in Germany. These are shell spectator MacNeils. According to the website, "This particular pair of Three-Tone Spectators (Burgundy over Cream over Black) is one of two Special Order Cordovan and Scotch Grain sample made by Allen Edmonds, an experiment for their design department." They are apparently 10.5 EE in size, and cane be found by clicking here. I just thought some of you barn weasels would enjoy looking at something that is strikingly different.

I agree that bar lacing looks good on most Allen Edmonds dress shoes, but I think cross lacing looks best on the Higgins Mill because it's a casual boot. Plus, natural cxl is a really casual color too. Amazing boots btw 👌

Where did you get them from? I thought they won't sell Loakes from overseas to the US.

@Lobster33 I tagged you lobster just in case this is where you got them, but I recall massdrop having Loakes on there at one point. I believe they were the standard captoe, is this them?
