PSA for those looking at the new sale items from AE.

Academy

Alumnus

Higgins Mill

Oak Street

Union

All available on Shoebank for $199.

For those of you who recently got the HM and were disappointed in toe box dings, etc., might be worth it to call in and see if you can get them for $50 off what you paid for them.

Here are the Merlot Strands again for Tuesday's "Cheap Clothes, Expensive Shoes." Good lighting.

Hopkinsons looked great from shoebank and I'm not sure what made them seconds but they are staying. So this weekend begins me putting up several pairs on the bay to try and reign in the closet and fix the rotation for some neglected shoes. First out the door is anything that doesn't fit great.

Did someone say Hopkinsons?

Can anyone post a picture of them wearing the Higgins Mill boots?

PSA on Normandy boots. With all this Normandy talk I remembered my local menswear / shoe store had some Normandy boots on the clearance rack. So I went over to take some pics to let people know what they have. Well, I'm a sucker for a deal - so I'm thinking about getting the 10D brown you see in the pics. I am normally a 9.5D in AE, but the 10D was a tad big but very comfortable - and I figure I will be wearing thicker socks with boots so it should be good.

Anyway, they have 4 pair and they are half price. If you really want the 10D brown, I probably have enough boots and you can have them. But I will get them by the end of the day if nobody else wants them. PM me if you want the contact info for the store. They said they will ship the boots. Sorry for the blurry box pic - cell phone pic. They have 8.5D black, 10D brown, 10.5D brown, and 11D black left.

I like the Alumnus shown there but I cannot find love for that Washington Square.

I saw the Alumnus live and in person in Nashville, TN. It looks fantastic with the chromexcel leather.

Wearing my only non-AE dress shoes today (Loake 1880 Aldwych).  Overall, very pleased.   Definitely wider in the arch than my AE shoes, but the fit is great.  I'd say the F width on Laokes is very similar to E width on AE.  I wear 7.5 E in the Park Ave and 7 F in the Aldwych.

Happy Tuesday forum pals. I'm glad to see the Alumnus and others now in the shoebank, but I'm still debating on pulling that particular trigger. Too many shoes not making the rotation these days. Like the NFL, its time to cut the squad down to size. No AE for today as I can't let some of these others hand in the closet bag without some attention. Vintage black pebble long wings for today.

Warning: Spoiler! Non-AE content (Click to show)

I know what you mean.  I just sold my Niles to try to trim off the ones I won't really use much.  I have about 15 shoes and think of it was running a college basketball program where I mainly use a 9-man rotation.

Sanford shells from eBay came in last night. Taking them for their (Florida) maiden voyage. I don't think you can ever have enough shell.

Someone help me choose. I have about $280 in AE gift cards. Can't decide on what to buy.

I have my own law firm, so I keep it pretty business casual during the week - dark jeans or chinos with a button down shirt. For the rare times I go to court (read: have to wear a suit) I have walnut, black, and brown shell strands.

My other main AE rotation consists of:

  • Grey Aberdeens
  • Natty Clark St.
  • Navy Maritimes

I also have brown Long Branches and brown Rothsays...however, now that I live in California (formerly in DC), I don't wear them that often.

What should I buy?!?!?

Those are sharp -- I prefer the Bradley's tone-on-tone stitching to the white contrast stitching in many Alden models.  I should have grabbed a pair while the Palo Alto store's discount still applied.

Just a few days ago however, my SA gave me a call and let me know that a shoe I requested back in early 2014 finally became available. And even better, it was on sale!

So, below are my Bradley Shell Cordovans. Technically they're seconds although I cannot find a thing wrong with them. I have these and the Alden NST in old school Cigar, and gotta say, I like these better. Blasphemous, I know.

The new Alumnus is pretty darned cool and should be a good match with the dark denim and chinos. I'm sure there will be plenty of opinions on this one as the question is rather open-ended.

I was going to suggest the new Alumnus shoe, but it is quite similar to the Aberdeen. Your collection is pretty much dressy-to-formal with the Strands and then extremely casual with 2 cxl shoes and a rugged collection, without any middle ground.  Maybe a brown grain MacNeil?

Or a loafer of some sort?  The new suede Acheson is pretty sweet.

Yup... I was the guy running the Warlow 2.0.  No white welt stitch though.. :)

I misunderstood - I thought you ordered the pembroke twice - once as Warlow, the other as Marlow.
