If you have to pick one, I would pick the one that match your shoes the best.

Yea. I didn't know they sold burgundy belts either. Obviously not the quality of AE belts but it has all positive reviews and it's also made in the USA.

Get the Manistee - the perfs are a better stylistic match to the McAs, plus the color is bound to be in the ballpark. One of the BR comments complains the "maroon" color is more brown than red.

Thanks. I didn't read that comment. I'll probably just get both lol

Haven't been on much recently because . . . well, you all are enablers!! I buy too much when I frequent this site :)

Just a few days ago however, my SA gave me a call and let me know that a shoe I requested back in early 2014 finally became available. And even better, it was on sale!

So, below are my Bradley Shell Cordovans. Technically they're seconds although I cannot find a thing wrong with them. I have these and the Alden NST in old school Cigar, and gotta say, I like these better. Blasphemous, I know.

The Normandy is pretty amazing.  I think one of the reasons you don't see it too often here is its not very business friendly (casual Fridays or not).  We got to get some AE After Dark pics up in here.

I have the them in black, and I also got the from eBay.  No defects, no 'no warrantee' stamp, worn maybe a couple of times.  I've seen quite a few of them with toe caps partially caved in, so thats something to watch out for.  If you see any dents in the caps, I would suggest you stay away.  Mine had no distressing what so ever, so I'm not sure if the cap issue was part of the distressing process, but I don't think thats the reason.

They're so comfortable, if they had a commando sole I think they'd be more comfortable than some of my sneakers, but I like them with the leather sole.  Some people find them slippery, but I've worn them on snow and ice and I've had no problems. YMMV.

I would return and snatch that Manistee.  I can't speak to the quality of the BR belt, but I feel pretty safe with belts from quality shoe manufacturers.  For the most part they use good leather, that doesn't end up looking like crap after a few wears.  There are other good belt options outside of the shoe brands, but do your homework on them.  I think Guarded Goods (an SF affiliate) will make you a belt out of Horween color 8 which should be a pretty close match, but it'll probably cost more than the $55 for the Manistee.  Plus, as others have stated, the Manistee's perfs will match many of AE's shoes.

Hey, if you have the means... might as well.

My two cents is that, while the Manistee is a super slick looking belt, the perforations make it perhaps a bit casual for certain occasions. Also, if you ever score another pair of Merlot shoes without perforations like Hopkinsons, the Manistee wouldn't be ideal.

I have it in Chili to go with my MacNeils and it's great, but for my new brown McGregors I will probably just get something without perforations since I expect to also add a plain brown bal to the collection some day.

But at $55, I'd say it was a great price if it wasn't the guy who got three at NR for a pittance.

The Madison Parks garnered a compliment today at work. For me, that's notable. Although the guy who complimented them is one of the few with any style. So, does it even count?

Overall very impressed with the Washington Square and the St. Johns.  Now I am wondering if I should return my Cornwallis Chili and wait for these to go on sale.  LOL.  They have more presence I think.

I'm diggin the Alumnus and the Washington Square.

Yesterday my Black Shell PAs came in and black Hopkinsons and I must say the Hopkinson seems to be the better option. The shell needs some work and even with deer bone I'm not sure there will be much luster. I was all on board for going shell but after getting these I don't see myself buying any black shell and definitely not the PAs. Hopkinsons looked great from shoebank and I'm not sure what made them seconds but they are staying. So this weekend begins me putting up several pairs on the bay to try and reign in the closet and fix the rotation for some neglected shoes. First out the door is anything that doesn't fit great.

Has long been suggested here, but, just noticed AE's website includes in the wild pictures associated down to the actual product.  If this level of association was previously known, I missed it.  This move will sell them some footwear.

I like the Alumnus shown there but I cannot find love for that Washington Square.

I think I just like that the side of the vamp is uninterrupted all the way down to the welt. The spacing that the plain balmoral wingtip offers is aesthetically pleasing to me.

As much as I love the McAllister, it can feel a bit crowded due to the brogueing. I think this is part of the reason that I love the look of shortwing bluchers like the Alumnus or Madison Park, there's just something about the uniform spacing between the wingtip and the quarter that feels right.
