Excellent find then as you will absolutely love those shoes.  I think the "long" feeling will go away as the sole breaks in.

All this boot talk makes me point out some Eagle Country in 8E at Nordstrom Rack.com.

I did try brushing it a bit but it didn't affect it at all. You can kind of feel the lines in the leather. Don't think any heavier brushing would get it out. Took this opportunity to order from Palo Also and get 15% off and will just return these. Sucks. Seems like every pair I buy I have to return at least once in all the shoes I've bought in the past. Sigh...

FYI to Canadians, Palo Alto store did not charge me shipping to Canada in addition to the 15% discount... pretty good deal on the already discounted shoes.

And yes, Tex has everything.  How does he get the shoes delivered so fast?!

Return!

Dude, there are rules here. Pics or it didn't happen!

But seriously, glad it seems they will work out. My favorite AE model, and easily my favorite suit shoe. Formal enough to pair with a suit but enough details to be interesting...

Alumnus in brown looks nice! Has anyone seen the black?

Just got them in. A little snug on my left pinky toe, but overall they feel pretty good. The widest point lines up with the ball of my foot. Question the stitch goes into the stud of Dainite. Would this be a structural problem?

Also, get shell.  All the shell you can.  But if you have shell, wait for the trunk show.  If you don't have shell, get burgundy asap :)  Carry on.,..

Ordered some burgundy shell Dundees today. Actually 2 pair....10D and 10.5D and will return whichever fits worse. I'm a 10E in the 5 last but no E width in that model.

Still haven't decided on HM or Academy yet though.....

I just pulled the trigger on the HM... $215 for a geniune Dainite sole and Horween CXL is good value... i'd probably wait on the Academy, that sole is a bit odd and it will probably be easier to pick up discounted in the future. I'd wait for some feedback on the sole. Something tells me the HM is gonna become a staple and be harder to get than the Academy.

I've heard a lot of talk about the Academy, and nothing about the Oak Street.
They added some great new leathers (kudu) and colors (navy CXL) for the Oak Street. I have a pair in brown (the old brown) and love those shoes. I'm SO TEMPTED by the navy.
Is anyone else with me on this?

I'm gonna go check out the Oak Street (and everything else new) this weekend.  According to some, the navy blue Oak Street looks very different from the website picture.  I'm thinking I'll probably wait until a trunk show to buy a pair of navy blue shoes.  If I like the Oak Street a lot, a single leather sole would be the way to go, but that's gonna make it a lot more expensive.   I'm not a big fan of Dainite and am still trying to find the perfect rubber sole.  The VIP is probably the best option I've tried, but the heels melt away pretty fast. I'm gonna go get fitted for the Maritime too to see if it will work for my feet.   The Academy interests me somewhat, but I''m gonna wait on those.
