Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc - Page 742

Hello Fellow Barn Weasels,

My latest acquisition, the Mclain, color brown.  Funny, when I first started getting into AE shoes, I disliked wingtips. I thought they screamed stodginess.  Now, I can't get enough of them. Wingtip bluchers, bals, boots, longwings, shortwings...These were 2nds but they are flawless. No mark on the bottom. Only thing "wrong" with them is that they don't have AE or the model name on the insole.

Eagerly awaiting some non-AE pics of the Higgins Mill in Natty to decide whether or not to pick up a pair...

Is this a one day only sale?!

No, it's not a one-day sale.
He was referring to a promotion that the Tanger outlets are running.

I'm with you brother.  I've actually had to force myself to broaden things out a bit...

Here is the Knightsbridge next to the Liverpool for your viewing pleasure.  LOL

Really appreciate it, thanks tex.  On the one hand, totally see what you mean...but on the other hand, I like the Knightsbridge (both looks and fit) enough that I'm happy to wait on the Liverpool for a considerably long time - the MSRP seems way too high.  For a Dalton I can see it, but the Liverpool, not so much.  Damn nice boots, but price is a little steep imo.

F-ing sale prices - I thought the RDA was right around the corner.  Why did they have to go and do this now.  I promised multiple times, no more casual stuff, dress only.  Now I have the Higgins on order, couldn't pass it up.  I said I'd wait for a little while - after the Strand, Maritime, Cody, Rogue and now the Higgins, so much for that.

I mentioned this above (I think) - the closest analogy for me is the Alden Barrie last, based on a quick fitting, except true-to-size.  I Brannock as a 11.75, and the 12 felt great.  Room in the toe box but still looks fairly sleek.  Roomy width but not swimmy - I'd call it true to width, too.  I'm a full "D" width and it felt dead on.

I'll try to remember to post once I actually try them.  TTS isn't possible (7.5C) so I went with my usual (down a half size in length and up a width).  It works well enough with everything else so hopefully it'll work here too.

The Liverpool is pricey, but I suspect will be on sale soon.  They all go on sale eventually :)

Let's hope they stay limited.

They remind me of my Cole Haan shoes.

My guess is it is generous enough a last/pattern that that will work.

That sole is definitely appealing to a younger age-set, but I think those would be more successful in a less traditional leather vs. the shiny calf they appear to be using.

AE / Paul - if you're listening - hire a really good lifestyle photographer and take photos of every shoe outdoors as some secondary photography.  I guarantee this will increase your sales (and probably reduce returns).  I'd be happy to volunteer my services for costs incurred plus free shoes.  :)  (I'm not really kidding)

If you go to the Discover page on the website they have some good pictures of the Union being worn outside.
