This pic was taken last November. I felt I had a decent boot rotation and fooled myself into thinking I was done for a bit... Since Nov I've managed to add: Long Branch, Freiburg, Normandy, Portland & 5th Street.

Damn #FBWs
As I was looking at your picture, I noticed that you had some of the same boots as me. Then I saw the Dalton and remembered that I forgot to include my pair of Daltons (oxblood) in my picture too. Now I'm certain that I've got too many boots!
Did you have to size down for the Frieburg? I tried them and thought that they were huge.

Hmmm... I guess I like them all.

Fit = Shakers
Comfort = Freiburg
# of wears & versatility = Bleeckers (by far)
Most complimented = Dalton (by far)
Beater = Normandy on full lug, LBs a close 2nd
Suited & booted = 5ths

Nope, went with my 5 last / brannock-0.5. I initially wore them with thicker socks, as they had a little too much room (though volume wasn't an issue for my low arches). After a few wears they are good with medium weight dress socks.

I have been sitting here really tempted to pull the trigger on a pair of brown CXL Higgins Mill boots.  I already have 3 different pairs of Daltons (but will be selling my dark brown ones as I am awaiting a pair of dark brown shell RL/CJ Lindricks), two pairs of Shaker Heights, and a pair of moc toe Ralph Lauren boots that resemble the Red Wing moc toe boots.  Plus regular LL Bean boots and a pair of shearling lined bison LL Bean boots.

I really don't need another pair of boots.

But $200 is so tempting.  Good thing the J'ville outlet closes early on Sundays . . .

Does anyone know what the Higgins Mill fit is like?

Did anyone verify that the Tanger coupon worked when joining up today?  I don't want to blow $10...and they close in 15 min...

I mentioned this above (I think) - the closest analogy for me is the Alden Barrie last, based on a quick fitting, except true-to-size.  I Brannock as a 11.75, and the 12 felt great.  Room in the toe box but still looks fairly sleek.  Roomy width but not swimmy - I'd call it true to width, too.  I'm a full "D" width and it felt dead on.

To all you guys thinking about pulling the trigger on the Higgins Mills boot on sale: send an email/call to your favorite SA right around closing time. Probably won't respond, but they will, usually honor the sale tomorrow.

@harlequin782 shoprunner assures 2 day shipping on AE and they say these will ship in 1-2 business days. I am optimistic to see them this week.

@m635guy no luck here but did not keep trying.

I just threw him an email, but haven't pulled the Trigger on the Tanger Coupon book pending someone saying it exists for new customers.  Arg.

I found the Academy to run a good bit more broad in the toe box than the 65 last. I'm typically an 11.5 B, but the Academy I have on hold at my local store (waiting for this sale, in fact) are an 11 B. For what it's worth, and echoing what others have said, the Higgins Mill seems to run true to size; they didn't have any B widths in store, but an 11.5 D felt surprisingly close.

I had to jump on the Higgins Mill. Hopefully I'll get them this week and they fit good. Had bad luck with fit in the past.

You and I share a predicament--see my post roughly 15 mins before yours.

I'm thinking either:
HM in natty and Academy in black
or
HM in black and Academy in Natty

I have a decent collection of brown shades already, although none in casual boots or any boots for that matter.

Any suggestions for repairing small gouges in a pair of pebble grain Sanibels? I put them up on a shelf so the cats wouldn't run over them and the damn cat tried (and failed) to jump up leaving 3 little needle gouges in my brand new shoes. If they were just marks, i'd just try to polish and call it a day, but they're tiny little flaps that, if you brush them one way, they close up and are invisible but if you brush against them, they open up and you can see the inside of the leather. No pictures as it would be hard to photograph and i'm just to mad to hold my camera still at this point. I tried some cream polish thinking maybe it would stain the inside so it wouldn't be as noticeable, but it didn't seem to help.
