The price on the HM boot is tough to pass up!

How does the 1757 compare with the 65 last?

I'm going to guess and get my normal size.  I very rarely deviate from 12 EEE.

What do you guys think about brown Higgins Mill with dress slacks? Too casual of a boot? I don't think the natural would work at all but the brown at least leans more dressy. I wear mainly business casual. Jeans every now and then.

Very different to me based on a quick try-on the other day - roomy toe-box and generous-but-not-swimmy overall. Fit was generally similar to Aiden's Barrie last, except fits true-to-size (based on the SA's recommendation and the quick fitting).

After waking up a bit more, I think I'm going for the indy in natty cxl over the Higgins. I really want a natty cxl boot, and Alden just owns the boot game imo. Time to save up

I saw a review online (Dapper, I think) where they said it was TTS, but with enough room for thicker socks if need be. I'm apparently the same size as the reviewer (10.5D), so that's good enough for me.

What size do you guys take on the academy vs the 65 last?

That's fair,I personally just don't want to pay more than double for the Alden. Plus, I actually really like Dainite, so that's in the plus column for me with the HM

I think I will pull the trigger on the natural CXL HM. The brown is nice, but I already have Chippawa plain toe boots that I was planning to resole this fall. I would also purchase the Academy if it was offered in Navy.

Yesterday I was browsing Shoebank and decided to order a pair of the Players, Madison park, and Stuttgart. I will take some photoes and comment on the fit of each of them when they arrive. Hopefully something works, I really want a short wing blucher!

I Brannock at 9.5D but wear a 9E on the 65.

Maybe I'll be able to try the HM in both sizes in a physical store

I personally wouldn't wear it with dress slacks. Chinos and jeans are fine. 1st Ave and Dalton would be better options for you.

Just got them for $215 even!  Including tax!

I was just in the Brookfield, WI store yesterday exchanging some brown Odenwalds for a smaller size. Saw the Higgins Mill and lusted over them for a bit. I had no idea they were going on sale for $250. If I'd been by myself, I probably would have forgone the $137 Odenwalds and ponied up for the Higgins Mill. Alas, I had the wife and daughter with me, and there would have been no way to hide spending the extra dough.

That's such a good price for such a nice boot. But, they're just too similar to have both in my rotation. Maybe the natty CXL version, but I feel like I'd get a lot more wear out of the brown. I wonder how long the sale is going on and if I can justify a trip up there in next week or so. Screw it, I'm probably going to do it.
