Freiburg Friday! (the second barnweasel bite of the week - I blame @middlepP and @naspratt)

I bought these from our favorite Ebay seller. Had seen them go several rounds of re-listing and tossed in an offer around 50% off ($70). It was accepted within minutes!

There's a small black line scuff inside the right big toe. It was there in the Ebay pics, but I really had to look again, now knowing what it was.  As someone said before, the pics may minimize any issues.

However, it was listed as "very lightly worn" and that was definitely true!! Could barely see anything on the soles. The leather is quite soft and I'm loving the contrast stitching on the welt. Another add in the casual direction.

Thank you

Truebalance is pretty generously wide.  My Brannock is a 11.75 and the wide end of D.  an 11.5 D Truebalance is great for me - not swimmy but generous.  I'm an 11.5D in the 65-last and 201-last, and a 12D in 7-last.

I also have a fairly high instep, and have zero issues with that on Truebalance (or Barrie for that matter - same sizing with less extra room - the perfect fit for me).

Hope that helps!

I guess it's possible, but I never thought of that.  I do worry about fungus, as it sometimes affects me.

Brooklyn: Don't feel bad.  I just ordered a pair of Loake 1880 shoe seconds.  I will always be an AE guy first, but I do want to try other brands that are on par with AE.

Hasn't anyone ever been bowling?

Disinfectant spray.

Or swishes around some isopropyl alcohol.

Grrrrr...I hate this topic.  I hate having to buy really high end stuff so I've pretty much tried everything possible in the mall stores.  Express 1MX is total garbage but the Extra Slim Fit works for me amazingly well.  That or Club Monaco's XS Slim Fit are good for me.  I'd love to be able to pick up BB shirts - they seem to be made like iron but they're just so damn big.  Even the green label whatever, that thing is even big on me.  Anything from Ralph Lauren, Polo, Rugby (which is gone I think) or Club Monaco is my go-to.  Can't fit BR - too big.  Zara is horrible shit - don't buy that for any price.  I gush over Thomas Pink at the sale prices but the shirts there also run extremely big.  Other than that....Nordstrom's store brands are sort of do-able for me also.  Hope that helps.  Colezioni Armani always works too.

Nice - did you feel like the heel was crazy wide and you were really slipping around in there or not too bad?

I have to admit, the more I read your posts the more I like.  Question for you - I have the original red Neumok like you - clearly a denim casual shoe.  The new one looks like a ruby red McAllister - I feel like it's kind of a "neither here, nor there" type of shoe in that it would look weird with denim but is too casual for dress.  How do you wear them so far?

But I also remember a few months back when I thought about buying a pair of McTavish shoes in cognac at the shoe bank for $137 as well and I thought about it to long and they were gone fast lol. Decisions, decisions 😕...
The Rush Street is a great shoe!
I have a pair in olive, and wanted the golden brown, but they were discontinued and no longer available. The fit is similarl to the Strand.

The heel is fine.
The length is about on a par with the 114 or 555.

I'm going to wear them with slacks and sports coat. Why not? I think it looks good. It's a deep red.

BR does the job for me for the most part. However when I wear a BR shirt one day, then one of my Eton's the next, I despise myself for going the "cheap"right.  But I know what you mean about hating to buy high end stuff.  Hell I saw a pair of boxer briefs for $75 today.  The sad part is it made me try to justify the price...

I have two rogues now. Same size as most others, including 65. They initially felt right at the cusp of being too large, but re-lacing them very tight and wearing medium weight socks, they are very comfortable - especially after getting killed by the cody's vamp 😊

Funny you should say that. When I tried on my new Freiburgs last night, I thought they felt a bit tight! Same size as all my other shoes. I was wordering how this could be, when everyone says it's roomier than the 65, especially in the arch.

This morning I put them on for the day, and they felt totally comfortable! Just like all my 65 lasted shoes. About halfway through the day enjoying them, it hit me - I had tried them (and the Malones) on last night around 7:30PM after a long day. Our feet swell throughout the day, right? I guess that's why they felt tighter at first impression. Today was, well, night and day. tongue.gif. The 201's extra room for the arch is appreciated on this boot too (not that my Bleecker Streets are bad)

Do these Cordovan Macneil's seem dry by chance? Or does the polish look like it was caked on? If you look closely at the second picture, you can sort of see little flakes of dried polish. Should a good brushing fix this? Thanks y'all. I just got these used and they were already re-conditioned.

Are any of the AE boots such as the First Aves designed for warmth as well as aesthetics?

Sorry for the noob questions. How often do you guys brush / condition / polish your shoes? Any good sources of info to turn to? The forums are tough to navigate through Tapatalk

+Infinity to that.  Every time I gather the "courage" to go with the Cody for a full day, the day after I'm totally going with the Rogue for maximum relief.  I definitely have some shoes where I put them on at the beginning of the day and they feel almost too large, but 10+ hrs in, they're a good fit.
