I've personally been a few times and have yet to be rewarded with a pair (in any size), but others have found plenty.

I think recently someone said they quit selling them earlier this year

I see.  So I know Nordstroms, Nordstrom's Rack and Bloomingdales, Zappos/Amazon carry AE shoes.  Who else?

So what you're saying is that it just makes me a shoe fiend.

Honestly, my favorite part about shoe ownership at this point is mining ebay for incredible deals on like new AE and vintage Florsheim shoes.  My wife would never allow me to buy them at this rate for full (fool?) price, but it's so satisfying knowing that you just got a $400 pair of shoes for $40.

These all carry special models made by AE:

Brooks Brothers
Club Monaco
J. Press
Harry Rosen
Ralph Lauren

I personally believe ebay has the best deals, if you are patient.  I bought my black Carlyes for $90 and my oxblood Park Aves for $85.   No way could I have paid 800 for both of those at retail.

I must have an oddly shaped foot (aka fat haha), since all of the shoes I've seen in my size on ebay are either really worn, or priced high.

Totally agree.  For me, it's about the hunt.  I check multiple times a day in my size for AE and Alden and also vintage Florsheim (which kill AE in their current quality), Nettleton and Bostonian for cool deals.

I'm due a pair of vintage Alden shell tassel loafers tomorrow that I paid $40 for tomorrrow.

What size are you?  I'm a 12 B and there are always somewhere around ~130-150 shoes in my size.  My brother in law was interested, so I looked for him and there were ~800 10 Ds available.

I think D's are way more abundant because people think they are a D width because that's what 95% of shoe companies make, get poorly measured, buy a shoe and realize that it doesn't fit so they try to sell it on ebay.  You have to be patient and pounce on "buy it now"s that are in your range or shoes that are listed too low ($30-your range) for the actual value of the shoe.

In the 5 and 8 last, I wear 10.5 EEE. I check about once a day (since the obsession started). I think this has been the most at 58. Granted, that is without the Rutledge I just bought today. Some of them don't look bad at all, but the price is nowhere near some of the other steals I've been seeing.

6PM, Club Monaco, Harry Rosen.  Limited styles some exclusives (like Club Monaco's suede Leeds).  Harry Rosen are renamed but often have something changed, like the Bloor St.
