I hate squeaky shoes, it makes them sound cheap IMO and is a little embarrassing in the office, but I love every other thing about these shoes.

Sometimes wearing different socks or tying your laces differently can help.  Sometimes loosening up the laces so they are less tight can help.  I find my Lasalles do squeak on occasion, but I can usually get rid of it by adjusting the laces.   I'd give them more time - the squeaking could go away after you wear them longer.

What do you guys think of this fit in the strands size 7.5 D? The V gap seems pretty wide. My feet measures around 8 - 8.5 D on brannock device. I returned them and ordered a 7.5 E. Would that be a better option? Thanks!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

They're small, its more like a U-Gap.  7.5E may be OK if the footbed settles enough, but I would try 8D or possibly 8E.  I'm 8.5D/E Brannock and I wear 8E.

Also when you get the 7.5E try European bar lacing.  I find I get better tension on the eye-stays with that method.

Thanks.  I'm really looking forward to trying them on.  Very sexy boot.

Posing a (semi)hypothetical...

If the price were the same, would you have a brown shell...

Strand or C&J for BB (under the brand Peal & Co.) wingtip?

Both lovely, both fit a similar niche (for me anyway... likely to wear both with chinos/flannels and occasionally with denim), both similarly colored, both similarly priced... is it as simple as taking the one that's normally ~40% more expensive?

TIA!

Looks like Allen Edmonds just released 7 new models. What do you guys think about them?

Cordovan has a very tight grain structure. It's not nearly as porous as calf or suede, so it doesn't breathe nearly as well, and insulates better. That's why it's generally preferred in cooler months.

Innaugural run of the new Verona II's today. Wearing these with a suit, I kind of feel like I'm on 1980's Wall Street- and I'm pretty okay with that:

Super, super comfortable too

The suede Acheson looks pretty slick.  Will have to add it to the potential suede acquisitions list, behind a snuff barrie PTB.

Yea. The suede Acheson is probably the only one that catches my attention. I'm still waiting for the Bayfield and Shaker Heights to come back...

Not a fan of that Washington model at all. I think the Leiden's look cool but I'd have trouble wearing them in south florida as they seem more like fall/winter colors. Love suede strands though.

I love the Leiden in brown grain / tweed. I really like my Cascade boots so I'm glad to see those come back. And the loden suede Strand is getting my attention.

Quick question:
Called two places about 2nds of a pair of carlyles.
Store #1 said wrinkles from being tried on and "veins" on side.

Store #2 said small wrinkle from trying on and slight fatty leather at eyelids which will be covered anyways.

My question is what exactly does fatty leather look like? I should go with #2 right?

I'm really hoping the suede Acheson works with my foot. If not I'll probably be looking to grab the Strand.
