But for $160 I can't fault the B&W jacket - it's waterproof and warmer than most Barbours - it's 12oz cotton canvas whereas Barbour's heaviest jackets are about 8oz I think. They are designed to fit over a jumper and allow ease of movement, so its not going to give you a 'fitted' look like a Belstaff, and they can be a tiny bit oily when new, though this will wear off pretty quickly - just make sure the oil doesn't rub off on your white jeans (not that anyone here would wear those...)
Has anyone else noticed the price creep in nice jackets from the big "international" brands? It seems like just a few years ago you could get a nice Barbour or Belstaff for $500 and the real concern then was maybe wonky fit or sizing.
It's like all of the brands are just doing what they've always done now... except for $300 more.
That said, I just ponied up for a Barbour Beacon sports jacket in navy - which should be just enough jacket for a South Australian winter.
