How do I tell which Zegna Tux I bought?

I recently purchased a Zegna Tux off ebay, the seller states he purchased it about a year ago for $2400, it is made in Switzerland and is a 2 button tux with no Z logo. It also has 2 flaps in the back.

Can anyone tell me about this tux, which model, approximate age etc. Thank you

That's definitely a more recent tag so the age checks out. You'll have to show the factory label (inside pocket with fabric codes etc) to get anymore info though....maybe someone will be able to tell more from that. Also any other inside labels or tags besides the Ermenegildo Zegna label you've shown.

They started with that label around 2009 or 2010, IIRC. They then changed it to a newer one last year, so it's probably from 2 to 7 years old.

It's not their classic tux, which has one button, solid serge black fabric, and either vented or unvented.
Looks like there's a very slight stripe pattern to the fabric? Could be some seasonal model, specially made that year.

Most of the mainline Zegna (which your tux is) I've seen has usually been classic, with Z Zegna doing the "creative" stuff.

There should be some info label inside the left or right inside chest pocket, post a picture of that one.

Thanks for the replies, I was pretty suspicious, seller said he bought it at Neiman Marcus new a year ago and only wore it once.. Here is the other picture of the tag

Yes there is a slight strip to the material and has two vents, which is just what I wanted to be different from my other tux one. There are no other tags. just the one in jacket and one in the pants. Thanks for helping me figure out what the tag reveals.

@dreamspace 's dates sound right to me. It could potentially have been from last year, assuming he bought it just before the label change (or after at a discount retailer like Neiman Marcus Last Call). I usually take eBay sellers' "only worn once!" claims with a grain of salt, but with a tux, could be!

I can't add anything else except to say it's the Milano fit, which is the slimmer, more modern fit. Some guys more familiar with Zegna might be able to say more—@Jompso maybe—but probably not a whole lot.

Enjoy the new tux!

Thanks ChetB, this is my first only worn once experience. I was actually looking for a white tux and stumbled across this it

It's not mute Veremund, I just got it two days ago and I can return it which I won't because I can't rent a tux for what I bought this one for.

With great deals those who hesitate miss out, I didn't have time to research before I bought, only after the fact.

Zegna current fabric tag began around 2012, so this is definitely before that. At the same time, Mainline Zegna's black label had a large Z in the backdrop around 2007-2010(?) before they got rid of it. Based on those tags, I would guess it's sandwiched somewhere between 2010 and 2012.

If the seller said it was purchased last year, it could very well have just been NOS (new old stock). It's the Milano model which, IIRC, was the mainline's only model during that time period. Around 2008 Zegna discontinued the Roma cut, and didn't bring out the current Torino cut until 2012, which would have used the new fabric tag already. The Milano has soft shoulders and is less aggressive than the Torino. Trousers are not overly tapered, and much more classic. For a while I was obsessed with the Milano cut, until I realized that structured shoulders fit my body type more.

Also, other people can correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Neiman Marcus normally commission Zegna suits so that it'll also have a label inside that says Neiman Marcus? I know that Bergdorf Goodman does.

That is what i thought Wayward it would have the NM label but it does not, seller insisted he personally bought it from there. With all the fake stuff out there on ebay just wanted to be sure I got the real thing.

Wayward knows his stuff. I defer to him :)

In any case, wherever and whenever it's from, it's definitely the real thing, so no worries there.
