@Claghorn, might as well go full suit for the blue Donegal if you get it. I don't really see myself wearing a full tweed suit, but it seems it would suit you (you already have one tweed suit).

Nah, I don't foresee myself getting much in the way of winter fabrics in the near future.

I was able to spend some time this evening to gather together some ensembles. Have no idea when I can take pictures, though.

I think the "kick off" posters can first post ties and also jackets (so potentially two group shots) without posting fit-pics yet. You can come back and post them at your leisure. This saves a place in the gallery at the front.

How does that sound? There are, I would have thought, a lot of great shots from your IG and Tumblr and also WAYWRN here (I can remember some of them well).

I hope @UrbanComposition won't mind my posting a few other shots of #3 which was posted, I think, in WAYWRN and featured here:

Nice to have such excellence in the gallery.

Thanks fellas. I have some other fall/winter pics from years past; I'll try to post them in the next day or so.

That will be great @UrbanComposition

You just posted a version of 10 (or same one) on WAYWRN and IG?

One thing worth noting: a lot to be said in favor of solid ties with patterned jackets.

Fall/winter—the time we all know for flannel, heavy wools, cashmere, madder. For rough (appearing) textures. For an autumnal palette and for icy blues and greys. But those are the textures and colors of Europe and the eastern US. I have lived there, but I have also lived in New Mexico and the Bay Area.

In New Mexico, the already crystalline sunlight, now low on the horizon, becomes so white and clear that you believe that if you stared at something long enough you’d see right through it. In the high desert it’s cold but bright. Shadows are long and the colors of the world darken. The heavy wools of Native American and old Spanish traditions come out.

The Bay Area is completely different. Summers are dry and the world turns brown. Winter is the season of rain. The hills turn green. Flowering plants and trees blossom early. But the sea is dark. The fog lies low across the valleys and hugs the hills. Technical gear becomes more prominent, matched with flowing scarves and bright hats. People who have learned to layer as a matter of course every day add additional materials and colors.

Each of those experiences has shaped my sense of fall and winter and finds expression in the colors and textures that I think of during this season.

Here are 10 ties that represent my sense of the season.

The first icy mist of morning covered the land
With foggy, hazy, vague and blur memories of the Autumn
Where silence is deafening
And winter frost are chilly and deep.

Where vale of grief is lonely
And frost wind of mid winter looks cold and gray
And freshly fallen snow
Warms up the nostalgic memories.

Where imagination helps to add a tint and a shade of life
And show the color of miracles on the garden covered with snow
And springs the hope in our hearts and souls
To bring us a whisper of joy and a winter smile.

And all this takes us on the momentary trip
Of an emotional journey of life
Where we can hear the echo and sounds of silence
And a hand full of memories from the gray and frosty winter mist.

I did; figured I'd take advantage of all those pics. FWIW, the missus had a hand in the selection wink.gif
It's too bad solid ties are so rare - they're so useful. I've degraded almost-solid herringbone ties to flannel.
Can we nominate Mr. Six to Official Bay Area Ambassador already?

The missus has a great eye.

High level stuff here. Good challenge for those west of the Mississippi and across the oceans, tho I suspect they will rise to the challenge.
