Remember Balfour, I didn't post these because I thought them evidence of good fits featuring loafers with suits. I'm just providing pictures in response to a question earlier in the thread. Hindi or someone else might find them useful...Just sayin'

Sounds like the sort of defence a Big Tobacco lobbyist might advance.

Seriously, how does posting pictures of douchebags help anybody?

Posters in this thread are crazy. With the right suit it would be great. But I wear sneakers with suits, so I might be disqualified.

Thank you for those pictures. I am pretty new to classic menswear and although I do like the look of tassel loafers I found none of those looks particularly worked except for the third one, which although as an outfit I don't think was all that great, the loafers didn't seem out of place. Interesting none the less.

No problem Hindi. There are many many tastes/styles present here on the Forum. Not everything is for everyone and the pictures are just a random sampling of what I could find doing a quick google search.

Learn what you can from others on the pages of this Forum but ultimately, only you can decide what works best for you.

Balfour,

Your "douchebag" may be someone else's silk purse.

No, just the sow's ear I feed to my dog.

I don't subscribe to the 'it's all relative; all stylistic preferences are equally valid' BS.

At least I express an opinion rather than say 'I'm not necessarily endorsing this, but this is what I pulled off the web' - how does that help anyone?  Fence-sitting at best.

Indeed, I have been regularly looking at the WAYWRN thread and taking much inspiration from more experienced members to combine with my own preferences.

Thanks again.

Hindi,

Your welcome.

Balfour,

I'm not here to tell Hindi what I think will work for him. That's his decision. I've never even seen him or spoken to him so how could I, you or anyone else offer an opinion as to which, if any, of these fits would work for HIM? Or, conduct a search for pictures on the internet that are reflective of his tastes? Again, it's a random sampling of pictures from which he can form his own opinion.

I have a question for you. How exactly have your posts in this thread helped anyone?

1.  I've expressed opinions, rather than sat on the fence, about stylistic matters.

2.  I've clarified that monk strap shoes are not loafers.

3.  I've indicated that, whatever views there may be about wearing loafers with suits, the conventional wisdom in matters of classic style is that monk straps are perfectly acceptable with suits.

Considerably more value added than by your posts, which did after all start off by posing a question.

Happy?

Balfour,

I'm not certain how you quantify the value of your opinions relative to mine but if you are happy thinking they are of greater value, good for you.

They are many different opinions on this forum about all sorts of style related matters and although most seem to fall within a certain aesthetic, there are many forum members who do quite well blazing there own trail stylistically.

If you'll notice, there is nothing in my responses to you debating the merits of your opinion on loafers with suits as I did after all request input on the matter. My query to you is in regards to your derogatory take on the pictures I provided in response to another member's question. He clearly accepted my effort to assist him in the spirit in which it was intended. I fail to see how any of your posts in this regard were helpful.

Good night.

Don't put words in my mouth.  My point was you didn't express an opinion.  You sat on the fence.

There is a great deal of rubbish posted on this forum, but perhaps you too wish to 'blaze a similar trail'.

This is becoming tiresome, I suspect for you too, so as you say good night.

Formal or business suits don't go well with shoes that are not formal, and the loafers are nowhere near being formal.

Loafers are informal shoes, they may work with a suit that is informal and worn with no tie.

Wearing loafers with a formal/business suit will make you look like the guy who wears Nike Jordans with chinos and a pique shirt, you don't want to be that guy.

The loafers you got, are very nice, just pair them with garments on the same league, informal or casual.
