Finding affordable menswear? (chicago) - Page 7

Question about loafers - starting to think about casual outfits now, especially with Spring coming. I need a shoe to wear with jeans/chinos. I saw this pair, but I'm wondering if they are a little too dressy? I do really like them. I'm not a big fan of penny loafers.

Also, what about these suede oxfords? Steve Madden

Are all the "retail prices" here legit? Some of them seem ridiculous for shoes that are not that high quality.

I still like the Ted Bakers most by far. Those loafers are too dressy for me too, just too slick.

Any suggestions?

Yes. Buy the Ted bakers. As for loafers, those Cole Haans you posted are my favorites of the bunch.

I got the Ted Bakers - very nice actually. Hate the laces though, too short and they come undone. I need a replacement.

I like those loafers a lot. I tried on some of the others I had listed and nothing really stuck. I'll put those on the list. Thanks!

That Jack Erwin company looks darn good I must say.

My review of Jack Erwin shoes may be of interest.

Thanks for the review, good stuff.

Is there a good website to learn the basics and terminology of shoe construction?

Hi! Just stopping by.

I want to say congratulations on the decision of dressing well - and also, congratulations on your weight loss!

Veremund, you have been absolutely great in this thread.. I just read through all the pages! Fantastic forum :)

I'd also support you on the "OCBD" shirts. I am less than half his age, but I've always valued those shirts all year around. The white and blue are so extremely versatile, and they can be dressed down with chinos and trainers for casual office days or socializing - but they can also be dressed up with a pair of brown brogues/loafers, chinos in grey/khaki(I even go with white), navy blazer and a OCBD shirt in blue or white - that is preppy!

Hey thanks! (BTW Like that outfit above, but the tie split like that is driving my OCD crazy!)

I have an OCBD white coming from Peter Manning today. Looking forward to seeing how it fits.
