White waistcoat?

I have a white waistcoat which I've only worn once for a wedding. Could I wear it with a black shirt and black trousers with no tie, so opened collar buttons? Not for any formal occassions.

Would it even go with a burgundy/plum suit?

List the white waistcoat - and if you already own one, the black shirt - on eBay.

Take the pittance you'll likely get for them, and use the money to buy a nice pair of socks.

You'll wind up ahead of where you are now, and ahead of where you're thinking of going.

How about this tie? (It's the matching pocket square for the tie but same colour and pattern)

Will this work with anything?
