No surround. Fully 2.0 soundfield using two built-in speakers-they have a simulated "S Force" surround. Plan to add some AudioEngine powered speakers soon. It sounds great now though. The menus have lots of sound adjustments and the room is small as it is my library.

Well with all that high tech goodness you've got I think some expected to see it all set up. Why not go with a simple 2.0 setup? A cheap receiver and some nice bookshelves. You could always add the sub later.
Seems like a nice tv but I'm not some sort of tech expert, I'm quite satisfied with mine myself and have no speaker setup and my DVD player doesn't upscale (waiting on for a multi-zone one and the end of the format wars) so I bet you'll be getting a wonderful picture with that. I don't watch that many movies with surround sound anyways...
