@EliodA C'mon man. I was trying to eat breakfast.

@pine tree You need to rethink that decision. That knot is awful.
I am basing this on my personal experience wearing a regular winsor knot and fancier knots. If I have no intention of making an impression or too lazy to be creative i.e. most days, I wear the winsor. But if I want an extra pop to an otherwise dull outfit, I will try something else. Like I said, I do not get any feedback wearing the winsor because it is ordinary. No one is attracted to normal. When you invest so much into your appearance, you want some return and sticking with winsor all the time isn't going to cut it.

People, just let it go.

I, too, find the knot in question unappealing and pine tree's perspective on the matter to be even more unappealing, but the fact is that pine tree is well within his rights to wear such a knot and to hold his opinions. And I doubt whether there's any great likelihood of either you convincing him to change his mind, or him convincing you to accept his take on things. So just walk away from this one.

Although it does make me wish SF had a forum called something along the lines of, "Dressing to Grab Attention," since it would be a far better place for this conversation than is Classic Menswear.

In my experience, the unusual attracts more attention than the traditional and contemporary. I have worn the eldridge knot as well as many others and have gotten positive feedback as opposed to wearing some regular knot that no one acknowledges.

There is a difference between standing out because you look sharp and standing out because you have done something idiosyncratic. With the Eldridge knot, you are gravitating towards the latter, and probably away from the former. If all you care about is the latter, then that is fine, and you should not let anyone on this forum dissuade you.

But I am not straying from the former because people give me compliments on it and how well my outfit is put together. I am not trying to argue, I am basing this on my real world experience and not theory. If the eldridge knot is so awful according to people here, why do I get complimented regularly when wearing it outside?

@GBR - you well know that by saying "exact" i didn't mean "this piece just a rip off".

Eldridge knot. C'mon. I just can't even. The Eldridge itself is overdone. It's absurd. It's your goal to have others acknowledge your knot?

On one hand I feel like there might be a massive age gap disparity between the two of us as I'm my mid 20s, on the other hand you wrote "I can't even". I'm confused.
Eldredge knot is fantastic and all the gay people I meet seem to agree xD
And yes, frankly it would be my goal for people to acknowledge my tie, my shoes (check that shine), my suit (yes, I did give it to alterations because I wanted blazer shortened 4mm), my hair, and any other aspect about my appearance there is. You're probably married, I get laid. If I was to dress "just for work", then like everyone else and their dog, I'd put on a crappy black [welcome to legal services] or navy suit.

Here's the suit:

This will always go with your typical azure/pale blue shirts. Is pink a bad idea? Always thought a pink tie goes well with blue shirts. I'm open to proposals. And no, I will not budge on the knot :)

This gets "better" and "better".

Horrible idea. Fancy knots only works well with a blank canvas (white). Wearing color on top of an eldridge knot is too much visually. Also pink tie is bad choice with that suit.
