You look like a George Clooney type to me. I would stick to a variety of whites, grays and blues but go with a variety of collars, spread, etc. Please no button down. Mix it up with some nice luxe fabrics and golf shirts in solid colors to show off the new physique. Go with a slimmer trouser and invest in a few good belts, Prada, Zegna Gucci. Cuccinelli might be a good brand for you. I lost 40 lbs. Over the last 3 years and this strategy worked for me

It's funny you mention Clooney because my wife says that all the time. Maybe wishful thinking :D It's a good idea to have a look at what's he's doing though. Thanks!

What's the problem with button down collars? Too casual? My work environment is VERY casual, and there are button down collars everywhere. (I don't currently own any.)

Absolutely nothing wrong with button downs. You should get a couple.

We wore button downs in college with pocket protectors. They're ok if you're into that sorta thing.

The button down collar has some detractors and it appears Pravda is one of them.  Nevertheless it has been a staple of the American male wardrobe forever.

If you look through waywrn you will see many examples of the button down in very styish outfits.

Also, I'd go so far as to say if you are not going to be wearing a jacket or tie very much, you have very little need for any other kind of collar.
