Baseball playoffs - Page 4

Jim Edmonds has just hit a two-run, walk-off HR in the bottom of the 12th inning.  On to Game 7 for the NL as well.

Any predictions for the game?  My heart says the Sox, but my brain says the Yankees.  The Yankees' pitching staff is in much better shape.

Just walked outside--the town is insane, cars honking, people cheering, really nuts, and I'm 3-4 miles from downtown/Fenway.

The Yankees all the way. We're going to win the next three games, starting tonight. Brown's going to be wicked tonight. Then, we're going to beat the Red Sox in the cruelest fashion possible. We'll let them think they have a chance, before crushing them. It'll be much worse than last year. Boston's curse is this: they're in the same division as the greatest team in sports history. Of course, they won't win a championship when they can't even win their division.
Well, you did get "cruelest fashion possible" right.   The Yankees have now taken a place beside the Houston Oilers (who blew a 35-3 lead in a playoff game to the Buffalo Bills) and Jean Van de Velde (who blew a three-shot lead with one hole to go in the British Open) as sports' biggest chokers.  FOXSports has them ranked Number One.  For as long as major team professional sports is played in the country, when one team falls behind 3-0 in a seven-game series, the announcer will be obligated to remind the audience that a comeback has been made at least once.  I LOVE IT.............................

There are no words.

How bad does that suck.  The Yankees got their butts handed to them in disgusting fashion.  Disgusting.  Oh well, time to move on, take the endless taunting and stand up like men.  I hate the Sox with the heat of a thousand suns, but I hope they take it all this year (and only this year) because I'm tired of hearing about the damn 'curse'.  There's no friggin' curse -- they've got beaten in the past because they haven't done what they needed to.  Period. This year, they finally have (so far...), and hats off to them.  Still hate them though.  Not as individuals, not even the management -- just the idea of them.  GO YANKEES.  You screwed up bad.  BAD.  INEXCUSABLY.  But like the Phoenix...

Cashman better have his resume ready...

Okay, I'm man enough to admit it: Great game, red sox fans. Your team deserved to win the series. You've won your world series, the curse has been lifted. You've finally beaten the Yankees. I'm sure everybody agrees that the red sox had the better team on paper. But, you figured the red sox would still find a way to mess it up somehow. All the talk of curses would get in the red sox heads and mess them up, but these players didn't know any better. Its like playing 1 on 1 basketball with your little brother. For years, you were able to dominate and swat away all his shots cause you were so much bigger and taller. Then, one summer, he grows 5 inches and is the same height. Sure, you can still beat him but then one day, it happens. He finally beats you. That's how I feel right now with this loss.

I applaud your willingness to step up to accept a piece of humble pie.  I only hope that I can say the same for a smack-talking Yankee fan/bartender at my local watering hole who had the audacity to carry around a broom during Game 4 but strangely was not around for the last two games.
