If people dress well to impress women, then when they get married I am to assume they ditch the nice clothes and just wear sweatpants and a wife beater until they die/get a divorce?

To follow your assumption, one would also have to assume that wives do not qualify as women (who you would want to impress?).

I didn't have a desire to dress well until well after I started dating my girlfriend. We've been dating about 2 years and I've been trying to dress well for 7 or 8 months, but I am only just now starting to feel that I've settled on a certain sense of style that I plan on sticking with.

Buy Chloroform. Cheaper than a new wardrobe, and will get you more chicks.

Key word you think.

No, it's the same. We need clothes just like we need cars and food. People are into luxury cars because most of them truely enjoy them. They're into gourmet cuisine because they love it. And dare I say some are into clothes because they like the garments. Never have I picked something up and thought to myself, wow the ladies would love this or this will help me pick up ladies.

Clearly there are two camps on this forum, those who use clothing as a means to an end and those who are true enthusiasts.

I was done with this thread but I wanted to illustrate this to you.

I never said that the people here represent everyone. People here are definitely different from everyone else when it comes to the point of picking outfits. People in general want to look good. Some people here even look good for the tripod that sits across the street waiting to take the picture that will later be on WAYWN? I think it's for the opposite sex personally. Of course I'm going to say I think because this is the opinion that I'm entitled to. I'm just throwing it out there. I think that after people began wearing clothes for warmth, people began to diversify the oufits, in which case women saw some outfits more desirable than others. I think that could have developed as another variable for male status once women were more selective of outfits. Consider a Cashinahuan tribesman who is physically fit, hunts better than his other tribesman and brings back more meat. He is more liable to attain more women. Period. Now consider in our society, with many more variables, a man who can bring more "meat" to the table, is more fit, blah blah blah, and on top of that, dresses well. The fact that you are dressing well signals the woman you are a better candidate then the guy next to you. Whether people here have become infatuated with clothes is another topic. Looking at evolving male markers of status, attention to clothing should fit somewhere with the acquisition of women. You don't have to get so aggressive in your replies. I'm not attacking you. kosskesh.

Haha jk.

You're arguing the historical significance of clothing while I'm answering the op's question.

Nicely put

I think its perfectly fine that people have different reasons for wanting to dress nice. Its just kinda sad that some people decide that their reason is somehow more true or better than everyone elses.

Anyway, we're all here to get better and learn and blah blah, so what difference does it make?
Dressing nice for different reasons is fine, but what's truely sad is if the sole reason for buying clothes is with the intent on landing women.

It's not a big deal if you like shit and you think looking good in it will get you some ass. I just love dope sweaters, pants, shirts because I have had shitty stuff growing up and I didn't like it. This may or may not help my chances with ladies but it's a risk I'd never think twice about taking.

Feel me? I'm through with this thread.
