Wear insoles in dress shoes: Prolong leather lining?

Long time lurker, 1st time posting. Have about half-dozen pairs of hand-me-downs Aldens, C&Js etc. (as well as JM, cole haans) Just bought my first pairs of Allen Edmonds. In my 20s and paying more attention to quality footware. My question:

Would it make sense to wear insoles most/all of the time to prolong life of the leather insole + lining? This on top of using shoe trees, shoe horn, waxing and conditioning, and all the other important shoe care. Because as we know lining and shoe insole are not as easily replaceable as outsole and welt, if at all.

Pros and cons of the idea. Experienced members welcome

You are very impatient.

The purpose of insoles is to take up space if your feet (or a foot) is between sizes. Your question suggests a nonsense - shoes wear from the outside - damage to the uppers from one cause or another being largely in point - not the inside.

Sorry? (not sure what you're referring to, but still appreciate your comment)

So is it total BS that sweating, rubbing over time causes decay in the leather lining and leather insole? And isn't it true that the insides are hard to replace? Please let me know where I'm mistaken, thanks.

I wear inserted insoles for comfort. As mentioned, inserts also have the purpose of taking up space, so I wear thinner socks when wearing them. If I am not going to be moving around a lot on a particular day, I will forgo them. Since you are wearing used shoes, the inside of the shoes most likely show signs of wear already.
