This shirt the pink one:

I was thinking a dark green silk tie?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Italian-Business-Classic-Formal-Solid-Silk-Satin-Tie-Necktie-Wide-4-10cm-/390607523243?var=660142251973&hash=item5af205cdab:m:mQ9Dh5hC2vB7NHeD5kvZBIg

Or should I go for a solid black silk tie? The occassions nothing formal, just school and there's no restrictions as long as you're wearing a suit or smart clothing.

You will find no love on StyFo for satin finish ties.

My recommendation would be a navy grenadine tie. Drake's has the best ones ready to wear. Sam Hober makes the best ones, period.

What's wrong with satin finish ties? Would a solid black tie work?

Would the green one be a bad choice as along with a black tie and a pink tie, it's the only one that's currently available to me

Go directly to jail.  Do not pass go/  Do not collect £200.

about colors, as stated before, grey suit + pink shirt, the best (safe and elegant) choice is navy blue (and it will be useful with many other attire). Other good choices are a grey tie (other shade than the suit to have some contrast), other shades of blue (slate, french, indigo, not too shiny), dark purple

Green is also a good choice BUT the shade is critical to work with the pink shirt: it has to be muted enough too avoid the "clown syndrome", and vivid enough not to look dull. (there is a fumble risk here)

A dark green tie happens to be easier to pair with a sky blue shirt

A solid pink tie on a pink shirt may work with a strong contrast (very light pink shirt, very dark pink tie). there is still a risk to end with a dated look (80's mob). It should be easier to pair with a neat patterned tie

black tie... well... unless it is a very nice one with nice texture and a discreet pattern... and it avoids both funeral and trendy attitude... (It could be fine with a white shirt)

Then comes pattern and texture: please avoid satin finish, especially with solid colors, most often it ends looking cheap and/or out of place and good combination is the exception

A grenadine or braided silk will be the best choices about texture. You could also choose a neat pattern (similar shades medallions, micro dots...)

As said above, satin finish ties tend to look cheap (and let's face it, thew one you linked to is cheap), and look gangster-ish. A sheen is okay, but shiny should be avoided.

The same is true for solid black. Much, much better is a solid color tie with texture. And no shine.

IMO, the suit is pricey for a fused half-synthetic 3pc.

Whilst the colours might work, the suit is an overpriced rag and not 100% wool, the shirts cheap and show it and enough has been said about that tie.
